Good Odds Cash On Track For Black Top Blitz

FRANK Hurst has declared his superstar sprinter Good Odds Cash in perfect order ahead of Friday night’s G2 Black Top heats at The Gardens.

TRAINER Frank Hurst has declared his superstar sprinter Good Odds Cash in perfect order ahead of Friday night's Group 2 Black Top heats (515m) at The Gardens.

Three starts back the daughter of Collision reached group 1 glory for the first time in her decorated 57-start career with victory in the National Sprint Championship at Wentworth Park.

The career-defining win added to a resume which boasts wins in the Group 2 Maitland Cup, Group 2 Richmond Oaks, Group 3 State of Origin Sprint along with a runner-up performance behind She's A Pearl in the Group 1 Golden Easter Egg.

But on Friday night at The Gardens, Good Odds Cash will be striving for a return to the winner's list following two recent unplaced efforts, when she steps out as an odds-on favourite from box six in heat three of the Black Top.

"She's jumping out of her skin," trainer Frank Hurst said ahead of Friday night's assignment.

"After her last start I gave her a good week off before fine-tuning her for Friday with a post-to-post trial at Richmond on Sunday night.

"The time showed me she's right where she needs to be and she's come through that hit-out fantastic. She's three now so she's closer to the end of her career but while she's going like she is she'll keep racing.

"But my days of travelling interstate are probably over. She's three but I'm a lot older than that!"

Boasting a near record 29.24 victory at The Gardens back in June, Good Odds Cash is expected to progress through to next week's $40,000-to-the-winner decider with relative ease.

But to do so she'll need to overcome the extremely talented Yuko Girl which heads into The Gardens showpiece still in pursuit of a breakthrough group race victory.

While Hurst's major Black Top chance is Good Odds Cash, the Million Dollar Chase winning conditioner is also represented by Good Odds Emma in heat one.

A $6 chance in betting, Good Odds Emma runs into a red hot field including Million Dollar Chase consolation winner Zipping Maserati and that series' fastest qualifier Gatlin.

"She (Good Odds Emma) trialled the exact same time as (Good Odds) Cash at Richmond on Sunday night," Hurst revealed.

"That was no surprise as she can really run and back in June she should have beaten Good Odds Cash when finishing second to her at The Gardens.

"Unfortunately a lot went wrong at her last start at Bulli but I expect her to bounce back and run a race on Friday night. But it's a tough field and she doesn't have the early zip that a couple of the others have."

Adding plenty of star power to the Black Top heats is the appearance of five of the eight TAB Million Dollar Chase finalists from last weekend.

Leading that charge is powerhouse performer Zipping Kyrgios which will exit box one in the fifth and final heat.

A narrow second in a thrilling Million Dollar Chase decider, Zipping Kyrgios will begin his Black Top title defence as a short priced favourite.

It was his epic Black Top triumph last year that launched the John Finn-trained powerhouse on a trajectory to one of Australia's premier greyhounds.
