Harada Cements Bathurst Cup Favouritism

MILLION Dollar Chase winner Good Odds Harada has been installed $1.90 to keep his unblemished Bathurst record intact in Friday's Bathurst Gold Cup.

MILLION Dollar Chase winner Good Odds Harada has been installed the $1.90 favourite to keep his unblemished Bathurst record intact in Friday night's Ladbrokes Bathurst Gold Cup Final (520m).

The son of Collision was at his rampaging best in Monday afternoon's heats, overcoming a moderate getaway to score in a decisive best of meeting 29.71 for trainer Frank Hurst.

Monday's stirring heat victory was Good Odds Harada's third Bathurst success, his previous two wins when successful in the Bathurst qualifier of last year's Million Dollar Chase – a series he went on to win in grand fashion.

If successful in Friday night's $25,000 to-the-winner final, Good Odds Harada's stake earnings will top $1.3 million, taking him within striking distance of Fanta Bale's all-time prize money record ($1,365,175).

Second favourite with TAB for Friday night's Bathurst Cup is the Rob Camilleri-trained Shima Breeze, the daughter of Fernando Bale a brilliant 29.85 heat winner at her Bathurst debut.

Showing her trademark customary early speed, Shima Breeze made light work of her opposition in Monday's heat from box one, the TAB installing last year's Australian Cup finalist at $3.80 from box seven in Friday's final.

Camilleri is represented by two runners in Friday night's finale with grand campaigner Slingshot Hammer qualifying for yet another group race final when finishing third to Solar Sky in 29.99.

Solar Sky – a sister to Good Odds Harada – is trained by Jack Smith who will parade the recently retired Feral Franky before the crowd at Friday night's Bathurst Cup.

While the Bathurst Cup is the highlight of a huge program out of Bathurst, race six on the program, the Ladbrokes GBOTA Maiden Final (520m) promises to be a spirited contest as well.

Worth a cool $9,980 to-the-winner, race favourite will be the Scott Board-trained Spring Barty, the daughter of Barcia Bale a sizzling 29.48 heat winner, comfortably setting the time-standard for the final.
