GRV Suspend Racing At Cranbourne Immediately

GREYHOUND Racing Victoria (GRV) have taken the extreme step to suspend all racing and trialling at Cranbourne until further notice.

GREYHOUND Racing Victoria (GRV) have taken the extreme step to suspend all racing and trialling at Cranbourne until further notice.

On Thursday morning GRV announced that a suspension had been placed on the club with immediate effect.

"Racing at Cranbourne Greyhound Racing Club has been suspended in the interim," a GRV statement read.

"The suspension will remain in place pending the Cranbourne GRC notifying GRV that key personnel needed to professionally and safely run race meetings are in place."

The lack of detail in the release has led to industry speculation running rife.

That speculation is understood to centre around suggestions of friction between GRV management and the Cranbourne committee and management over ongoing staffing issues at the track.

There's been suggestions the two parties have been at loggerheads for some time over pertinent issues at the complex which have failed to be addressed leading to Thursday's decision by GRV to suspend racing.

On Wednesday night Cranbourne conducted a 12-event card with the corresponding stewards report failing to indicate any significant issues.

GRV have been contacted for further comment.

The meetings to be cancelled at this point in time are the programs on Monday, December 7 and Wednesday, December 9, 2020.
