GROUP 3 Christmas Gift winner Modus Operandi is the headline act for Sunday's Ladbrokes Chief Havoc Cup (527m) heats at Gunnedah.

With next week's final carrying $5,000 to-the-winner, three heats have been set down for decision Sunday, where the Rob Tyler-trained Modus Operandi will go around nice and short in the second heat from box eight.

Winner at 20 of his 54 starts and almost $100,000 in prizemoney, the son of Fernando Bale and Bingle Monelli takes a distinct class edge into Sunday's event, at what will be the rising four year old's debut at the Gunnedah circuit.

The third and final heat sees another key series player line-up in the shape of Mark Moroney's exciting youngster Pandemonium.

The son of Dyna Double One has been setting the tracks alight to begin his career, winning seven of his 13 starts, including electrifying Maitland, Gosford and Bulli victories.

Drawn box three, Pandemonium tackles the Allan Syphers' prepared Lizzy Keen from box one, the beautifully bred daughter of Barcia Bale and Little Grey returning to racing recently with four straight wins, each in best of meeting times at Gunnedah.

Also lining up in the third heat is Rob Tyler's Everything I Do, the high speed son of Stagger an impressive 388m winner at Gosford on Tuesday in slick time.

The opening heat on Sunday looks the most open of the qualifiers, with Myrniong Master and Nikita Keeping two of the better chances on paper.

It promises to be a terrific series, with a strong 10-race card kicking off at 5.02pm ESTD this Sunday.
