Hector Fawley Wins Victoria's Top Gong
Popular greyhound Hector Fawley was named Victorian Greyhound Of the Year at an awards event at Sandown on Thursday night.
HECTOR Fawley is raced by the Cockerell family and friends under the syndicate name "The Bag of Lollys" and that's exactly what they got at Sandown on Thursday night at the Victorian Greyhound Awards.
Hector Fawley (Bernardo-Rolanda Hooch) was named Victorian Greyhound of the Year for the 2023/24 racing season.
The winner of the Group 1 Hume Cup, The $500,000 Sandgroper, the Group 3 Sandown Showdown and the Speed Star, he proved himself right around the country as an outstanding race dog.
Trained by Lisa Cockerell, in 62 starts Hector Fawley has won 24 and earned $733,000.
A powerful race dog, he has also been second in the Group 3 Shootout, the Pink Diamond Distance, third in $1 million The Phoenix and Group 3 Easter Gift, as well as a finalist in the Group 1 Rookie Rebel, Group 2 McKenna memorial and Group 3 SA Derby.
Other award winner were Explicit which was named Sprinter of the Year and Drill Sergeant Stayer for the Year.
Meanwhile, legendary race dogs My Bro Fabio and Up Hill Jill were inducted into the Victorian Hall of Fame on Thursday night.
