Hot Fields For Dubbo Cup

TWO heats of the Ladbrokes Dubbo Gold Cup (516m) highlight racing out of the central west this Sunday night.

As well as two qualifiers of the $10,000 to-the-winner Cup series, three heats of the Peg & Bill Miller Memorial are also set down for decision, the 516-metre series, catering for greyhounds with 0-2 wins, also carrying a $10,000 purse.

On a terrific program of racing, the first Cup heat promises to be a blockbuster, with Bathurst Cup winner Caitlyn Keeping sitting up in box one for Charmaine Roberts.

In a mouthwatering clash on paper, the daughter of Fabregas tackles Bathurst 450m track record holder Double Up Dee for Paul Braddon, winner of the 2017 Cup with Falcon's Fury, and recent 29.55 Wentworth Park winner Nangar Diva, trained by Dennis Barnes.

Rounding out the chances is Ray Smith's all distance dynamo Litter Digger in box six, the son of Fernando Bale winner of last year's Dubbo Cup in pulsating style for connections.

The second heat sees Rod Metselaar's Group 1 placegetter Tap Out Dusty make his Dubbo debut from box three, pitted up against Peter Carr's hugely talented Charlie Casey, and Ray Smith's speedy Irinka Lizzy, a recent finalist in the Group 1 Golden Easter Egg at Wentworth Park.

Sunday night's Dubbo Cup heats come hot on the heels of Friday night's Wagga Cup heats, the programing of the two similarly classed events far from ideal from an owners and trainers viewpoint.
