Injury Rules Zipping Kyrgios Out Of MDC

STAR galloper Zipping Kyrgios will be sidelined for up to six weeks after spraining a wrist when falling at Wentworth Park on Saturday night.

STAR galloper Zipping Kyrgios will be sidelined for up to six weeks after spraining a wrist when falling at Wentworth Park on Saturday night.

Minnie Finn said this today of the son of Aussie Infrared-Zipping Lilly.

He fell heavily coming to the winning post the first time in The Ambrosoli behind Lala Kiwi.

“It goes to show you what a wonderful chaser he is,” said Minnie. “He got up and chased the field around and he did it on three legs.”

Minnie said ice treatment for the wrist sprain would be nothing new for Zipping Kyrgios.

“He's had a worrying stopper bone for some time and it is iced every day,” she said.

“On Saturday night he pulled up with a cut on the front of his wrist when he clipped the four and fell.”

But Minnie believe the six-week break from any work can only help Zipping Kyrgios.

“He has raced constantly the past 12 months, so the short break will do him good,” she said.

She had been hopeful the wrist would not be bad enough to keep the dog out of the Brother Fox Cup at Dubbo in five weeks.

“But that is out now,” she said.

Zipping Kyrgios has won 27 and been placed in 17 of his 59 starts for $402,000.

His career highlights are wins in the Group 2 Black Top, Group 2 Gosford Gold Cup, Group 3 Payne Shootout, Listed Collerson and the rich Country Classic. He has been a finalist in the Topgun, Easter Egg, Dapto Megastar, Gold Bullion and Temlee all at Group 1 level.

With such an impressive career, it is natural that broodbitch owners are keen to use him at stud.

Minnie confirmed she and John had been approached about using him at stud.

“I can tell you one thing,” said Minnie. “He won't be leaving here.”
