Injury Sidelines Collinda Patty For Rest Of 2021

GROUP 3 Speed Star winner Collinda Patty will spend the remainder of 2021 on the sidelines after tearing a monkey muscle on Wednesday.

GROUP 3 Speed Star winner Collinda Patty will spend the remainder of 2021 on the sidelines after tearing a monkey muscle at The Meadows on Wednesday.

The cruel injury blow will mean the gifted daughter of Zambora Brockie will miss the Melbourne spring carnival and races like the coveted Group 1 Hume Cup and Group 1 Sale Cup.

Three starts back the Jason Thompson-trained chaser set a new Sandown Park 595 metre time-standard when scoring by 10 lengths in an electrifying 33.56.

A start later she downed a hot field to win the Group 3 Speed Star (600m) at The Meadows in 34.37 after qualifying for the event in a flying 34.12.

Winner at five of her 14 starts, Collinda Patty started a red hot $1.35 favourite for Wednesday's 525 metre assignment at The Meadows.

And soon after box rise it appeared to be plain sailing for backers as she charged to the front before going amiss with injury at the first turn.

Given her unbridled ability it wouldn't have surprised to see something in the 29.60 ballpark recorded.

The injury robs some upcoming big races of a star attraction where she was at the pointy end of betting.
