Wheeler Elects Surprise First Mate For Dyna Patty

THE Wheeler family have earmarked a left field pick for the first sire to cover their two-time Group 1 winning star Dyna Patty.

THE Wheeler family's champion race bitch Dyna Patty is likely to be mated to 1994-whelped Roanokee when she comes on season.

Dyna Patty (Fernando Bale-Unix Bale by Collision) boasts a remarkable career of 61 starts for 23 wins and 16 placings with earnings of $621,000, banked through Group 1 wins in the Australian Cup and Maturity, along with a host of other feature race victories and placings.

Her 29.00 Group 3 Speed Star victory at Sandown Park in May saw her become the fastest ever bitch go around the circuit.

Brendan Wheeler said Roanokee (New Tears-Free Method) had been chosen as a potential mate for Dyna Patty for a number of reasons.

“The first is that we are looking for sires' that put in a bit of size in the daughters of Fernando Bale,” he said.

“The second is, the cross of Roanokee with our line is proven already.”

Dyna Patty raced at 27.5kgs during her remarkable career for the Andrea Dailly kennel.

The Wheelers bred a Roanokee-Darya Bale litter in September 2015 which included Immen Bale, a finalist in the G1 Silver Chief and G2 Cranbourne Cup.

“It proved a great exercise because the litter had good size about them,” said Brendan. “This is what we are looking for in regards to daughters of Fernando Bale.”

Roanokee was the champion sprinter of his time winning 37 of his 57 starts for owner Gary Ralph and trainer Roger Green. He was sold to Ireland but not until he had sired G1 star Mint Mojo.

Roanokee won the Melbourne Cup, Brisbane Cup, Queensland Derby, Ipswich Cup, Lismore Cup and ran a track record at Toowoomba.
