It's A Blaze Scorches In Debut Sydney Trial

SOME of Australia's brightest sprinters trialled at Wentworth Park on Saturday night in preparation for next week's Group 1 Vic Peters Classic.

IMMENSELY talented Victorian It's A Blaze has recorded a sizzling 29.56 in a trial at Wentworth Park on Saturday night ahead of next weekend's Group 1 Vic Peters Classic heats.

Unbeaten in two career starts, the son of Fernando Bale broke the Cranbourne track record at his latest appearance and on the strength of Saturday night's Wentworth Park trial, the fashionably bred chaser will be front and centre come next week's group 1 heats.

Sporting his customary blinkers, It's A Blaze carved out 5.56 and 18.04 early before stopping the clock in 29.56, reeling off a sizzling run home of 11.52.

Not long after It's A Blaze went about his business, kennelmate Houdini Boy fell out of the boxes to run 5.74 early before unleashing withering run home sectionals to record 29.69 overall.

The son of Zambora Brockie has proven to be an enigma at box rise for trainer Kel Greenough to begin his career and it was more of the same at his first venture to Sydney on Saturday night.

And while Houdini Boy was slow from the boxes, the same can't be said for WA sensation Tommy Shelby, recording 5.49 and 17.96 before posting a flying 29.63 in preparation for next Saturday's Vic Peters Classic.

Trained by Steve Withers, Tommy Shelby's explosive early speed will hold him in perfect stead for next week's group 1 heats where $75,000 awaits connections of the series winner.

With each of the trio performing more than admirably at their Sydney debuts, all is in readiness for a cracking night of racing at Wentworth Park next Saturday night, with some star locals set to face off against a group of hugely talented interstaters.
