It's A Rush Ready For Richmond Fling

IT'S A Rush heads to the Richmond Derby heats on Friday night coming off an "impression making" winning double at Wentworth Park recently.

EXTRA smart Queenslander It's A Rush heads to the Richmond Derby heats (535m) on Friday night coming off an “impression making” winning double at Wentworth Park and with the Golden Easter Egg as his major future target.

Justin Bowe, whose wife Belynda owns the dog and whose uncle Gerard trains him, said the Egg was the prime target for the son of Fernando Bale-It's A Fling.

“But, first we have the Richmond Derby heats on Friday night and we give him a strong chance,” said Justin.

It's A Rush has been in Sydney for the past couple of weeks under the care of Michael Hodges while contesting an Egg Prelude at Wenty and the Derby series at Richmond.

“If he doesn't make the final of the Derby at Richmond, he will probably come home for a few weeks and then go back for the Egg,” said Justin.

“He's had a box to box at Richmond to give him a look at the track and he went pretty well.”

It's A Rush will be attempting to follow fellow Queenslander Oh Mickey's win in last year's Richmond Derby.

Justin and his wife paid $12,000 for It's A Rush after he had raced just once for a fifth over 460m at Warragul in a maiden back in December 2019.

“Yes, he's been a good buy winning 15 races and $52,000 for us,” said Justin.

“But they don't always work out like that.”

Bowe bought the dog's litter sister It's A Glance which whelped two dogs and three bitches in a litter by Zambora Brockie just five weeks ago.

“We will keep them all because it is such a fabulous female family and there were four city winners in the Fernando Bale litter as well,” said Justin.

It's A Rush was impressive in winning at Wentworth Park last Saturday night leading throughout in 29.76 and scoring by almost six lengths.

He is already a Derby winner having won that race at Bundaberg last year.
