It's Fletch Set To Fire At Hobart

MOUNT Direction trainer Wayne Williams will be disappointed if It’s Fletch doesn’t return to the winner’s list at Hobart on Thursday night.

MOUNT Direction trainer Wayne Williams will be disappointed if It's Fletch doesn't return to the winner's list at Hobart on Thursday night.

"He wants to be out there in box eight and he's in good order so there's no excuses," Williams said.

Unbeaten in two starts when wearing the pink rug, It's Fletch takes his place in race eight at Hobart on Thursday night over the 461-metres, fresh off an eye-catching third to Tassie's glamour bitch Peco Can at Devonport last week.

"He actually missed it away in that race last week, he's generally much better away which I'm hoping for on Thursday," added Williams.

A son of Fernando Bale and Push It, It's Fletch boasts 11 wins from 29 career outings, his Hobart record even better, yet to miss a cheque in eight appearances with the three wins and five placings.

"It does look the right race for him on Thursday; he's been racing some very good ones lately," Williams added.

Early markets see the 11-race winner a solid $1.75 favourite, with the only other runner under double figure odds the Blake Pursell-trained Fernando Lass (box six) at $3.40.

Williams heads to Hobart on Thursday night with three runners, with Fernie (race 5, number 7) and It's Phyllis (race 6, number 6) also engaged on the program.

Both are litter-sisters to Williams' main chance on the night, It's Fletch.

"Fernie is some kind of each-way hope but she's better drawn near the fence," Williams explained.

"It's Phyllis can run a bit but her one-turn form hasn't been as good as what she's shown at Launceston. I'm more hopeful than confident with the two girls.

"If I left with the one winner Thursday I'd be happy."

On a terrific card of racing, the highlight of the night is undoubtedly the clash between record breaking litter-brothers Stanley Gordon and Raging Ralston in race seven – the invitation over 461 metres.

The sons of My Bro Fabio will exit boxes five and seven respectively, the same draws they had in last Thursday's Tasmanian Gold Cup Final, where Stanley Gordon upstaged his brother Raging Ralston in a track record 25.44.

A week earlier in the heats, Raging Ralston eclipsed the previous benchmark running 25.46.

Their clash on Thursday looms as tantalizing match-up with early betting finding it hard to seperate the two at $2.60 each.
