Jazzy Pups To Go Under The Hammer

RAY and Sharron Webster declare they will be going to Sunday's Gold Muzzle Auction with a handful of quality bred pups ... with the intention of selling.

RAY and Sharron Webster declare they will be going to Sunday's Ladbrokes sponsored Gold Muzzle Auction at Richmond with a handful of quality bred pups … with the intention of selling.

And history says they are indeed genuine sellers.

“When Lagoon Jazzy was a pup, we put the litter through the Richmond Riches Auction and retained only her,” said Ray. “Among those we sold was Ritza Lenny.”

Therein lies the genuineness of Ray and Sharron's intentions this weekend.

Ritza Lenny became a racetrack star with 30 wins and $234,000 in stakes.

Now the Websters have pups from a couple of litters they have among the Gold Muzzle Auction catalogue, those by Fernando Bale-Lagoon Jazzy and Barcia Bale-Lagoon Prissy.

Jazzy's pups are certain to be greatly sought after.

The daughter of Barcia Bale and Lagoon Lowanna won 11 races and earned $92,000. She was second to Striker Light in the G1 Golden Easter Egg.

“It was the highlight of our time in greyhound racing,” said Ray of that performance.

“But, probably her best performance was a 29.80 win at Dapto one night by 16 lengths on a track that could be described as quicksand. The next best of the night was 30.60.”

Ray says her Fernando Bale litter are magnificent.

“She raced at 34 kilos so she was always going to produce good sized pups,” said Ray. “They are being reared on a five-acre paddock and are great gallopers. People will be gobsmacked when they see them.”

Ray and Sharron plan to keep just one of the bitches for future breeding but will let the market on the day of the auction decide for them which one.

Lagoon Jazzy has a litter of just three pups by Cosmic Rumble that are 18 months old and about to start racing. Ray says he is very excited about their potential.

“And, we have just mated her to Collision,” he said.

While Jazzy's pups are a highlight of the auction, the Barcia Bale-Lagoon Prissy pups are certain to demand attention from buyers also.

“Michael Phillips, who owns Miss Splendamiro, approached us about using her for a litter,” said Ray.

“The Barcia Bale mating was a natural because of the success of Ritza Lenny and Jazzy.”

Ray speaks highly of the potential of Lagoon Prissy before she dropped a back muscle.

“She was going to be something for sure,” he said.

“But when she came back from that back muscle injury she was never the same.”

The Barcia Bale/Cosmic Rumble cross on which this litter is bred is proven to the highest level but it also brings in the Hallucinate/Where's Pedro cross which has worked so exceptionally well with Barcia Bale.

Both litters were whelped in October last year, making them eight months old.
