Jebrynah Ready To Go For Group 1 Maturity

ROCKY Crisafi has dismissed any speculation his gun sprinter Jebrynah won’t face the starter in Saturday's Maturity Classic Final at The Meadows.

PAKENHAM trainer Rocky Crisafi has dismissed any speculation his gun sprinter Jebrynah won't face the starter in Saturday night's Group 1 Maturity Classic Final (525m) at The Meadows.

Installed a $3.30 second favourite with Bet365 for the $100,000 to-the-winner blockbuster this Saturday night, Jebrynah qualified with a half-length heat victory on the weekend, posting blinding sectionals to score in 29.80, just a length outside the 29.73 recorded by fastest qualifier and race favourite Sennachie ($3.20).

On Monday, rumours were circulating that all may not be right with the son of Cosmic Rumble leading into Saturday night's Group 1 showdown, speculation that was quickly shot down by his trainer.

"I don't know where these stories come from sometimes but I know the dog and that's it, I have nothing else to say on it," said a blunt Crisafi.

"A lot can happen in five days but he'll be there Saturday."

Winner at 19 of his 29 starts and over $100,000 in prizemoney, Jebrynah will size up his first Group 1 final this weekend, his previous group race appearances a second to Dyna Hunter in the Group 2 Warragul Cup (January) and fifth to Crimson Vixen in the Group 2 Bendigo Cup (July).

"He hasn't had any luck with box draws in big finals yet," added Crisafi.

"When dogs of that ability are all going to the corner together in big races it's not always the best dog that wins, box draws play a big part. This dog gives me 110% every time he goes around – I know what he's capable of."

In what looms as a mouth-watering finale to Saturday night's Maturity Classic, six of the eight finalists are quoted under double figure odds for the $100,000 to-the-winner feature with bookmaker Bet365, where Crisafi is more than happy with Jebrynah's box three draw.

"I don't mind that draw (three) at all for him," added Crisafi, his charge clearly posting the fastest first and second splits from last weekend's eight qualifiers.

"When he won at Sandown the Sunday before the (Maturity) heats he went 29.85 and there were people saying he only went slow but he was only there for the hit-out to get some fitness. I'm very happy with where he's at."

Jebrynah – a son of Cosmic Rumble and Jebrynah Glory – is from a wonderful litter, the seven siblings so far winning 51 races from their 141 starts, boasting the tremendous winning strike-rate of 35%.

Incidentally, Jebrynah's litter-brother Ides Of Jebrynah scored at his Wentworth Park debut on Saturday night in a slick 30.14 for trainer Ruth Matic, but will unfortunately be sidelined after suffering an injury in the run.
