Jose Reveling After Sale Four Winner Haul

GRAEME Jose celebrated his first four winner haul at Sale on Sunday night which the Group 1 winning trainer said took on even greater significance.

The first of Jose's winners on Sunday was debutant Hypo Harry which was only purchased by his new group of owners late last week.

Included in the syndicate is News Perform CEO Damon Robbins, Racenet co-founder Glenn Robbins, News Corp National Racing Editor Stephen Brassel and News Perform's head of commercial Darren Falvey.

It is their first venture into greyhound ownership and in less than a week they have already tasted success with their first winner.

Jose had only four starters on Sunday night and all of them were successful, landing a "decent" multi bet on the quartet.

He won heats of the 440m maiden with Hypo Harry and his litter brother Gold Skulltula (Ritza Lenny-Enlightment) before winning a grade 5 with Perfect Product and a grade 5 final with Aston Jupiter.

“I've won Group 1 races with my champion Mantra Lad in the past but this was a real career highlight for me,” Jose said.

"Winning a race for a group of first time owners that are better known in the gallops was a big thrill. And I must admit, carried that bit more pressure. When Hypo Harry won I thought we might be in for a good night."

Jose had trained One Required for breeder Josh Jones some years ago and Jones promised to send him more dogs in the future, fulfilling that promise with Hypo Harry and Gold Skulltula which both broke-in above average.

“He broke this pair in and sent them down to me with lots of wraps on them,” he said.

“But last week he rang to say he'd sold Hypo Harry but he would be staying in my kennel which was a great relief because he is a dog with a bright future and lots of improvement.”

The brothers clash next Sunday in the Maiden Final with Hypo Harry in seven and his brother Gold Skulltula in the rails.

“I like young dogs drawn out wide at Sale,” said Jose.

He said he had doubts about the multi bet winning coming to the home turn when Aston Jupiter looked to be struggling to pick up the leader.

“But he kept working away and just got up to win,” said Graeme.

“I made a declaration when getting the photo of the last winner that if my partner Tanya had been beside me right then, I would have proposed.

“But she wasn't there!”

All four dogs were treated to a junior burger and ice cream on the way home from Sale.

“There is an ice cream challenge happening on the internet so Tanya nominated us for that as well, sending off the picture of that,” said Graeme.

Jose has 13 in training and leading owner Ray Borda, a strong kennel client in recent times, has more to join the Jose kennel.
