Jungle Deuce Could Be Smith's New Sensation

EXCITING youngster Jungle Deuce will start all-the-rage for Saturday night's quality Ladbrokes Maiden Final for trainer Jack Smith.

GREYHOUND racing newcomers Clay Mawson and Brian Jaggers must be pinching themselves to see if it is all a dream after their first three greyhounds to the track have all been Wentworth Park winners.

They go into Saturday night's Ladbrokes Maiden Final (520m) at Wentworth Park with raging hot favourite Jungle Deuce, the son of Barcia Bale and Serena Fly High a half-brother to superstar group 1 winner Tommy Shelby.

Their other dogs, Solar Sky and Dip It In, are both Wenty winners, the former a litter sister to superstars Feral Franky and Good Odds Harada and now the dam of a litter by Fernando Bale just whelped and are now for sale.

Jack Smith trains Jungle Deuce and also has two other runners in the maiden final on Saturday night, Daisy's Boy and Irinka Riley.

Jungle Deuce and Irinka Riley clashed at Bathurst on Monday with Jungle Deuce scoring by eight and a half lengths in a scorching 29.89 – a lightning run on the track.

“He's doing everything right,” said Smith.

“He has not got a lot of early box speed but he certainly has got a big motor.”

Jack was impressed by the dog's effort on Monday night at Bathurst.

“That dog of Ronny Steele's (Fast Eddie Cargo) goes very quick around Bathurst and this pup ran quicker than he did in a heat of the Orange Cup,” he said.

Mawson and Jaggers bought Jungle Deuce as a pup and it was reared by Scott Board out at Orange.

“He's been a natural from day one,” said Jack.

“We will keep him to some graded races and work his way through those. But the New Sensation, a race The Feral won, is coming up and that might be a very nice race for him down the track.”

Smith continues to be pleased with the great response he has received since his star galloper Feral Franky retired to stud after a group 1 winning career.

“He's done 50 bitches now and it was pleasing that the Wheeler kennel bought eight straws for him,” said Jack. “

They have six or seven litters on the ground by him already.”

Jack reeled off a list of high quality bitches and proven broodbitches mated to Feral Franky.

Ironically, Feral Franky's final start was this time last year when finishing second to King Cratos in the Group 1 Paws Of Thunder Final.

“We've got a litter here out of Irinka Lizzy and she made an Easter Egg final,” he said. “They are very, very nice pups.

“The Barnes' have a litter out of their good bitch Little Nangar, and Tiggerlong Tonk's mother is due to whelp to him as well.

“We are stoked with how things are going.”
