‘Just Wait': King Aussie A Future Star Says Kunde

TERRY Kunde reckons whatever King Aussie does in the Maitland Future Stars, expect much, much more when the dog gets to a two-turn track.

KURRI KURRI owner-trainer Terry Kunde reckons whatever King Aussie does on Friday night in the Maitland Future Stars Final (400m) you expect much, much more when the dog gets to a two-turn track.

King Aussie (Aussie Infrared-Esther's Diva) ran 22.77 to win his Future Stars heat last week and has drawn the four in the final.

He is the only dog in the Kunde kennel.

“I had him ready for a 500 at The Gardens a few months ago but he got a slight injury and I eased him up,” said Terry.

“This race was coming up so I put him in and here we are in the final with a big chance.

“But, what he does on a one-turn track is nothing to what I know he can run on a two-turn track like The Gardens.”

King Aussie is from a highly promising litter which includes Great Flash from Minnie Finn's kennel and it has won eight of 17 starts.

“This dog will shake them up in the final, mainly because he will be wanting to head hard left out of the boxes,” said Terry.

“And that might just give Furious the run of the race from out wide.”

Terry admits he has already knocked back “big money” to buy King Aussie.

“He's not for sale,” said Terry. “I want to have some fun with this dog. Just wait until you see what he can do on a two-turn track.”

King Aussie got off on the home turn when winning his heat but Kunde puts that down to the dog “touching his track leg”.

“He is a dog who thrives on plenty of good tucker and I actually feed him meat and kibble twice a day,” he said.

“I have had him in five field trials on the two-turn tracks and he's won them all very easily.

“On those Gardens times, he should be running 22.40 or 22.50 at Maitland.”
