Last Chance Saloon: 12 Semi Spots Up For Grabs

THE final eight semi-final places in the lucrative TAB Million Dollar Chase series are up for grabs at Sydney's Wentworth Park this Saturday night.

THE final twelve semi-final places in the TAB Million Dollar Chase are up for grabs at Wentworth Park this Saturday night.

But earning a ticket into the final 64 to contest next week's semi-finals will be anything but a walk in the park with some of the sport's elite sprinters drawn to contest the eight city qualifiers.

And that elite group of sprinters is headlined by reigning Million Dollar Chase winner Good Odds Harada which will step out in qualifier seven from box two, the same draw he negotiated with aplomb to win last year's epic finale.

SATURDAY NIGHT'S WENTWORTH PARK FIELDS & FORM

A rampaging 29.34 winner of last year's series for Frank Hurst, Good Odds Harada capped off his preparations for Saturday night's qualifiers with a brisk 25.53 Bathurst win on Monday night.

And in an absorbing clash this weekend, Good Odds Harada matches motors with Victorian star Get It Gizmo, the Harry Manolitsis-trained son of Kinloch Brae third in last year's Million Dollar Chase decider.

The hugely gifted sprinter has spent most of 2020 on the sidelines with injury but signalled a return to his brilliant best with a remarkable victory at The Meadows last week.

Manolitsis will have a two-pronged attack on Saturday night's card with quality sprinter Flynn drawn to contest qualifier four from box two, pitted up against fellow Victorian powerhouse Who Told Stevie.

Flynn, also on the way back from serious injury, is a multiple group 1 finalist and looms as one of the more interesting runners on Saturday night's card.

His clash with Who Told Stevie, a brother to Simon Told Helen which has already booked his semi-final place, should prove an intriguing one.

Also set to make his presence felt at headquarters this Saturday night is 2019/20 Australian Trainer of The Year Anthony Azzopardi.

Azzopardi has accomplished sprinters Aston Pilsner and Short Pork engaged in the opening two qualifiers from boxes six and four respectively.

And while eight pulsating city qualifiers are set down for decision, it may well be the opening race that garners the most attention.

In a precursor to next week's Sydney Cup heats, group 1 winning stayer Here's Tears makes his Wentworth Park 720m debut for trainer Rob Britton, up against the talented yet enigmatic Good Juan.

In a field that also comprises Blazing Cartier and Just Terms, Good Juan makes his debut for new trainer Jason Mackay with his last Wentworth Park appearance on August 1 returning a slashing 41.96 win.

It promises to be a terrific spectacle to commence a fabulous night of racing.
