Pups With ‘Wow' Factor For Sale At GRNSW Auction

IF you’re interested in buying a greyhound, this might well be the litter for you at the fast approaching GRNSW Puppy Auction.

IF you're interested in buying a greyhound, this might well be the litter for you.

Yass trainer and breeder Neil Staines will venture to the Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) Puppy Auction with a full litter by former champion chaser Wow, out of Rainbow Dancer, a litter sister to the best NSW chaser in years, She's A Pearl.

The pups will be almost nine-months-old at auction time and the litter is made up of five boys and three girls.

Wow, a 31-time winner with earnings of more than $390,000, has sired winners of more than $1.6 million.

The dam, Rainbow Dancer, was a six-time winner but her litter sister She's A Pearl won a phenomenal $1.8 million with wins in Sydney's three biggest races, the Million Dollar Chase, Golden Easter Egg and Paws Of Thunder.

Rainbow Dancer's first litter, by Good Odds Harada, are still racing and while there are no champions, they are all winners.

Staines knows he probably hasn't got the sale topper in his draft but what he does have are race dogs that should be considered by potential buyers heading to the Richmond sale with any size budget.

"I'm being realistic, and the market will decide what they are worth, but they are going there to be sold," Staines said.

"They are by a champion race dog out of a litter sister to one of the greatest of all time, so they have to be a chance."

Staines trains, breeds and owns at his base down in the Southern Tablelands at South West Slopes of NSW and he bred, whelped and has raised this litter.

"They haven't missed out so it will be up to them when they are old enough," he said.

"We've done plenty of work with them already, they can walk on a lead and they are showing plenty of interest."

If you've never owned a greyhound before and are keen to become involved in the sport, this could be a litter of pups to consider as Staines is open to continuing to work with them if purchasers are keen to engage his services.

"If someone was to buy one and wanted me to take it and then possibly train it, I'd definitely be open to it," he said.

The pups by Wow will be for sale at Auction on May 25

"I'm sure someone at GRNSW will be able to put a buyer in touch with me on the day."

Pups sold through the auction are eligible to contest the 2026 GRNSW Puppy Classic Race Series where more than $210,000 will be up for grabs in the final.

Also, if unable to attend the auction on the day, GRNSW will be able to assist with phone bidding.
