Littermates To Shine In Ipswich Maiden Final

SHIMA Shine littermates, Cool Bananas and Another Level, head into a 431m Maiden final at Ipswich on Tuesday off slashing heat wins.

SHIMA Shine littermates, Cool Bananas and Another Level, head into a 431m Maiden final at Ipswich on Tuesday off slashing heat wins and drawing the one and eight respectively.

But, Justin Bowe, who owns Another Level (Shima Shine-Jo Jo), believes the youngsters would prefer to be drawn at opposite ends at the start.

Another Level won his maiden heat in 25.14 last week and Cool Bananas went 25.17 for trainer Gerard Bowe, Justin's uncle.

FIELDS AND FORM IPSWICH TUESDAY

“They are very nice young dogs, said Justin. “Great chasers but that is a trait of all the litter.

“There is not much between them, but I think they would prefer to be drawn opposite to what they are.

“But, as young dogs in a maiden final, it should not be too much of a worry for them.”

Exciting prospect Cool Bananas

Gerard raced the dam Jo Jo (Fabregas-Crazy Sexy) to win 16 races and she was a 431m Ipswich specialist.

“She won a couple over 484 metres at Casino but that was as far as she wanted to go,” said Justin.

“But this litter looks like they are stronger.

“The two boys will head to Albion Park after this for a post to post with the aim of stretching them to the 500 metres.”

Bowe said hardest to beat would be Mick Johnston's Comedy Act which was second to Another Level on debut in the heat last week beaten a half-length.

“It was a good run by it last week,” said Justin of Comedy Act.

Dam Jo Jo is due on season soon and Justin says it is likely she will be mated to Hooked On Scotch.

“Hooked On Scotch to Fabregas bitches seems to be the go,” he said.

“That's probably what we will do with her next.”

That is the cross found in boom galloper Postman Pat.
