SUNDAY marks the second Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) Puppy Auction and if you're in the market to have a crack at the fastest sport on legs, we've engaged the Greyhound Recorder's very own pedigree expert and owner-breeder David Brasch to give you a leg up.
The auction will be held at Richmond Race Club, 312 Londonderry Rd, Richmond, with viewing of the pups open to the public from 8am and the auction commencing at 9.30am.
CATALOGUE FOR GRNSW PUPPY AUCTION THIS SUNDAY
Pups sold through the auction are eligible to contest the 2026 Puppy Classic Race Series where more than $210,000 will be up for grabs.
This year there are 169 lots catalogued with pups from 55 different litters, aged between four and ten months and they are expected to fetch from $3000 up to above $20,000 for the premier offerings.
"When it comes to the breeding, some of the best greyhound racing has to offer will be represented," Brasch said.
"One thing I was taught when I first fell in love with the sport is that dam lines create dam lines and winners produce winners.
"They are the principles I've stood by in the sport and that's the advice I'll pass on to anyone that wants to come into the sport."
Here are the lots Brasch believes potentially represents mid-market value for buyers.

Lots 1, 27, 67, 107, 125, 151, 160 – by Fernando Bale out of Princess Zesta (6 months)
"Princess Zesta hails from a prolific dam line and she herself was a sub 30 second winner at Wentworth Park," Brasch said.
"This is her second litter, the first are around 18 months of age so none are yet to race but three of them went through the auction last year and sold for $8500, $10,500 and $12,000 at a similar age.
"Princess Zesta is also a daughter of My Bro Fabio and there's no better dam sire in the studbook so there's plenty going for her."

Lots 8, 88, 115, 134, 144 – by Tommy Shelby out of Coco Model (4 months)
"This is Coco Model's first litter and dam lines don't get much better than hers," Brasch said.
"Coco Model won 29 races, ran fast time at Wentworth Park and stretched out to win over 600m and placed in a National Futurity while also being a finalist in a Paws Of Thunder, Richmond Oaks and Ladies Bracelet.
"Her dam Champion Model won 25 races and is also the dam of Coast Model, a runner up in the Million Dollar Chase as well as many other high-class performers.
"These pups could be beauties if you can get your hands on them."

Lots 10, 40, 101, 147, 167 – by Tommy Shelby out of Scramjet (8 months)
"Scramjet was an outstanding race dog," Brasch said.
"She raced against some of the best, won 20 races, including The Collerson, and $97,000.
"She also comes from a great litter that won more than 60 races and $230,000.
"This is her first litter, they are by the budding superstar Tommy Shelby and the vendor can continue to rear them for you."

Lots 21, 65, 109, 163 – by Feral Franky out of Wicked Crystal (5 months)
"Not many bitches run 26.07 at Bulli and that's a big endorsement of how fast Wicked Crystal was," Brasch said.
"Only lightly raced, she won 10 of 28 and her dam Bit Wicked, herself a good race dog, produced three $50,000 earners in two litters.
"This is Wicked Crystal's first litter and there's no reason not to expect her to follow the winning trend of her dam line."
