Miss Envy Out Of Golden Ticket Series
SUCCESSFUL WA training partnership, Steve and Krystal Shinners, enjoying a stellar carnival, are contemplating a move to Queensland.
SUCCESSFUL WA training partnership, Steve and Krystal Shinners, are contemplating a move to Queensland, but have suffered a setback with their star bitch Miss Envy.
Steve has been back and forth in recent weeks while littermates La Sagrada and Miss Envy campaign at Albion Park during the lucrative Summer Carnival of Racing.
The daughters of Aston Dee Bee and Miss America ran the quinella in the Group 2 Queensland Futurity at Albion Park last Thursday night.
Miss Envy was to run in a four-dog match race heat of the Group 2 Golden Ticket at Albion Park this Thursday night but has been scratched after hurting a toe in a gallop this week.
The Shinners' plan to move to Queensland is in the early stages.
"I've been staying with Tony and Maree Zammit when I come over, although the dogs have stayed with the Zammits the whole time," Shinners said.
"But while I have been here I have been checking out potential properties for Krystal and I to move to.
"We have considered leasing a property for six to 12 months to check out the new track and racing over here.
"The new track at The Q looks fabulous.
"It makes a lot of sense for us to be this side of the country, able to head to Sydney and Melbourne very easily."
Steve Shinners, a former Victorian, has been in WA for more than a decade where he has established his kennel among the best in the land.
"Tony and Maree have been showing me around prospective areas to buy," he added.
"Krystal is on board about a potential move to Queensland.
"But everything is just the start of the idea."
Shinners reports star race bitch Amplified (Fernando Bale-Elevated) has just whelped two dogs and seven bitches by Black Magic Opal, bred on the same cross as current Group 1 star Epitomize (G1 Silver Chief, finalist G1 Melbourne Cup).
"We will sell a few of the bitches, and have already sold one to a buyer in England," he said.
Miss Envy's Futurity-winning sister, La Sagrada, is drawn in Thursday night's four-dog heats of the Group 2 Golden Ticket (520m).
The four-dog heats turn into two-dog match races on January 16 with the winner, the fastest of those match races, earning $60,000.
But the Shinners bitch will not have it all her own way.
Million Dollar Chase and recent Group 1 Paul Wheeler Simply The Best winner, Blue Kermaro, and Frank Hurst's star Good Odds Cobber, third in last year's Group 1 Brisbane Cup, come to town for the Golden Ticket.
The winner of the Golden Ticket gets automatic entry into the Group 1 Gold Bullion final on January 30 worth $250,000 to the winner.
Smooth Plane is drawn to take on La Sagrada in their heat and he comes off his recent flashing second to Explicit in the Group 1 The Phoenix.
Lakeview Emily, also a recent finalist in the The Phoenix, and a Group 1 placegetter at Albion Park last year, comes to town for the Golden Ticket as well and clashes with Good Odds Cobber.
