TRAINER Ted Medhurst will have the odds on his side next Thursday night as he prepares to launch a formidable five-dog attack on the prestigious Clarkie Tyres Maiden Thousand Final (461m) in Hobart.
Medhurst secured victory in four of the six heats on Tuesday afternoon, with debutant Levi Design setting the pace for the series by clocking an impressive 25.80s victory over Wynburn Flyer.
Bred by Debbie Cannan, the son of Feral Franky and Escalation is one of two runners from the litter making it through to the decider, with sister Crystal running 26.04 to win a heat in what was a memorable day for Medhurst.
Starting from box three in the opening heat, Levi Design exerted considerable effort to advance through the pack, ultimately passing his rivals and securing an impressive performance on debut.
The second fastest winner outside the Medhurst quartet was My Boy Bingo for Ingrid Watkins in 25.88.
Next best after that was another debutant in Glenroy, which was the shortest-priced runner of the heats.
The son of Bernardo and Timeless Moment posted 25.89s for Medhurst and owner Rodney Campbell.

The fawn chaser carved out good splits off box six to score by 10-1/2 lengths over Town Stranger.
Litter sister Timeless Miss, which finished second to My Boy Bingo, enters the field as a runner-up for Medhurst, along with Reinvigorated for Scott Bryan, a son of Fernando Bale which was also a runner-up behind Crystal.
Alston, another member from the highly promising Shima Shine x My Desiree litter, showcased his credentials with a brilliant performance in his heat running 25.99 for Medhurst and owner Debbie Cannan.
The slowest time of the heats was Klondike Clyde for trainer Josh Wright, running 26.28s.
With such up and coming quality on show, next week's finale promises to be an intriguing affair.
Now in its 75th year, the race is Australia's oldest maiden series.
This year, the final offers $13,405 to winning connections, in addition to a rug and trophy.
The final will be held next Thursday night alongside the Tasmanian Greyhound of the Year Awards dinner.
