‘Model' Offspring Up For Grabs At GRNSW Auction

TAYT Corless and his dad Greg have a realistic approach ahead of Sunday's much anticipated GRNSW Richmond Auction.
They have five by sire-of-the-moment Tommy Shelby from their grand race bitch Coco Model, the winner of 29 races and $138,000.
"Yes, we are being realistic about them," Tayt Corless said.
"They are genuinely for sale … at the right price," he said of the January 31 whelps.
Three dogs and two bitches from the eight-pup litter are in the auction.

"We've kept the only brindle dog, a blue bitch because dad and I have a liking for the colour blue, and a black bitch which has chest markings that look like wings," he added.
"Her kennel name is Angel. But, there is nothing between any of the pups, and as I said, they are for genuine sale."

Corless has been in greyhound racing for coming up to four years, but dad Greg dabbled in the industry back in the 1970s.
Coco Model (Barcia Bale-Champion Model) was bought in a package deal of three race dogs from Andy Lord and she went on to become a Group class performer, sound as a bell, and highly consistent.
She had 107 starts for 29 wins and 42 placings. She finished third in a Group 1 National Futurity and was a finalist in a G1 Paws Of Thunder, G2 Richmond Oaks, G3 Ladies Bracelet and Richmond Cannonball.
"She was a fantastic bitch for us," Corless added.
"We have based her around our future in the industry. She's our foundation bitch."
She is also the bitch which Greg was handling at Wentworth Park when he had a heart attack and "died for 16 minutes".
"Dad's first words when he came around was asking if the bitch won," Corless reflected. "She did."

"We have lot nine so won't get much of a guide by that time in regards to what money is available for the pups on Sunday," he said.
"There was plenty of money around last year. We'll have to see on the day.
"We went to Tommy Shelby with her because we felt it was the right mix.
"They are very keen pups and all an even size."
Tommy Shelby is on fire at stud, Deadly Avenger winning the G1 Perth Cup and then running a Cannington track record to land The Sandgroper.
Coco Model's half sister Coast Model (28 wins, $268,000), by Tommy Shelby's sire Fernando Bale, was second in the Million Dollar Chase.
