Mr. Hyperactive Leads Red Dog Final Charge

MR. Hyperactive takes a decided time advantage into Tuesday night's Ladbrokes Red Dog Final for trainers Darrin and Jo-ann Croser.

MR. Hyperactive wasn't meant to be at Bulli last Tuesday.

But he was and the exciting son of Fernando Bale made the most of the hit-out with a thumping 10-length victory over the 340 metres in a dashing 19.22.

Trained by Jo-ann and Darrin Croser, Mr. Hyperactive, a son of former gun short-courser Shamunska, goes into Tuesday night's Ladbrokes Red Dog Final (340m) as clearly the one to beat following last week's comprehensive heat success.

"He'd been out for five weeks with a hip support injury so he was pretty underdone going into the heats," said trainer Darrin Croser.

"But I trialled him out of the puppy boxes at Richmond and he broke 15 so I knew he was around the mark. But to win the way he did off so little work was a bit of a surprise. He's a very handy dog and keeps improving."

Winner at three of his four career, starts, Mr. Hyperactive has drawn box seven for Tuesday night's Red Dog Final where he takes a decided time advantage into the race over his opposition.

"The thing that impressed me most about last week's win was the way he ran through the line," Croser said.

"When he won at Bulli in 22.30 his head was up in the air and you could tell he wasn't totally there yet. But he's matured a lot since and is only getting better.

"Whether he runs 500 or not later on I'm not sure. We'll just see how we go."

And while Mr. Hyperactive is showing significant ability, Croser is adamant that sibling Hyperventilate remains the quicker of the pair.

"He's had one start in a Future Stars heat at Maitland but jarred up in the run," Croser said.

"To give you an idea when Mr. Hyperactive trialled 19.11 over the 340m at Bulli a while back, Hyperventilate went 19.01.

"In all their trials the fawn dog (Hyperventilate) has always been one or two lengths quicker.

"I've had some interest in buying them but they're hopefully the two dog I've been waiting for. They're too hard to find so I won't be letting them go."
