Muscat's Team Set To Charlm Wenty Punters

TRAINER Richard Muscat admits he’s hit the jackpot with his current kennel stars, three of which will contest races at Wentworth Park Wednesday.

Pheasants Nest trainer Richard Muscat admits he's hit the jackpot with his current litter of kennel stars, three of which will contest races at Wentworth Park on Wednesday night.

A desire to purchase and breed from a Hallinan-bred Zipping greyhound resulted in Muscat and partners purchasing the entire litter of Mepunga Blazer and Zipping Sookie pups from Cessnock breeder Jake Forbes.

The five pups, four dogs and a bitch, have made a super start to their careers, winning 22 of their first 49 career starts.

FIELDS AND FORM FOR WENTWORTH PARK ON WEDNESDAY

"We got lucky, we got really lucky with this litter," Muscat said. "Me and a mate (Mario Multari) wanted to get a Zipping dog to breed with.

"He messaged Marty to see if he had any bitches for sale at the time and he said ‘no' so we started looking in the for sale pages on the Greyhound websites.

"These came up on Greyhound Data and it went from there.

"We booked in to buy three when they were born and there was two left over so we ended up taking them too."

Charlm Dancer scoring at Richmond

Three of the five – Charlm Bullet, Charlm Dancer and Charlm Outlaw along with their kennelmate Bolt Charlm Bolt all venture to headquarters on Wednesday where the kennel will launch two-pronged attacks on two races.

Charlm Bullet (Box 6) and Bolt Charlm Bolt (Box 7) clash in the Ladbroke It! Stakes (520m).

"I thought Charlm Bullet would have won last week if he didn't run up the bum of the one going into the first corner," Muscat said.

"He's still learning his craft and will be better for his recent runs.

"He's one of the stronger dogs in the litter.

"And Bolt Charlm Bolt is going well but this is her first run for a month and her first start over 500m for a while so whatever she does she'll improve from the run.

"She will run a straight light and give Bullet the room he wants inside her."

The following race – Group 1 Racing This Saturday Stake (520m) will see the only bitch in the Zipping Sookie litter, Charlm Dancer (Box 4) clash with the best performed member of the clan Charlm Outlaw (Box 5).

Charlm Dancer is probably a little bit behind a couple of the dogs at this stage," Muscat said.

"She can come out running when she wants to and to have any chance against her brother she'll need to begin well.

"The one thing she has in her favour is she's a bit stronger that Outlaw.

"Charlm Outlaw's best asset is his pace.

"Once he hits the ground he takes off.

"Last week was his first 500 under race conditions so he's open to more improvement."
