Nana's Medal Winning Habit

FRANK Anderson is over the moon at the current time – and to be fair, he has every reason to be so.

Not only is he the breeder of boom NSW puppy, the unbeaten Pindari Express, Anderson also puts the polish on Friday afternoon's sizzling 29.59 Ladbrokes Monthly Medal (515m) winner at The Gardens, the fashionably bred Nana's Habit.
Anderson, who along with son Luke bred and raced champion Melbourne Cup winning sprinter Ando's Mac, was over the moon when speaking to the Recorder earlier this week following Nana's Habit's all-the-way victory on Friday, the 4 ½ year old galloper collecting the cool $5,200 first prize on the offing in determined fashion.
"She's going really well the old girl, she's gone super the past two weeks we couldn't be happier," declared Anderson earlier this week.
"Luke bought her a while back off Geoff Cooke with an eye to breeding with her and she came on season two days after he got her would you believe! She was a really good match for Ando's Mac and when she came on Ando was still racing so it didn't work out, but everything is set now for next time, when she comes on that'll be it for her racing and she'll be served by him."
Blessed with plenty of early speed, and a sub 30 Wentworth Park winner, Nana's Habit took her record to eight wins from just the 21 starts with Friday's Medal victory at Ladbrokes Gardens, her prizemoney swelling to $17,355.
"We were hopeful on Friday but it was a very strong race, when you are out in front you can make your own luck," said the Wyongah breeder, owner and trainer.
"We knew how big of opinion Jason (Mackay) has of his bitch Zipping Sassy and she didn't have any luck and our bitch made the most of it, she's been racing very well.
"We brought her back from a season in February and looking back now probably rushed her when she raced poorly at Wentworth Park. I can't complain with how she's going now, she's in at Richmond on Friday night in another Ladbrokes sponsored series. Can I say that they are without doubt the best sponsor greyhound racing has had. The money they put in, I hope they know how appreciative all the participants are with their support. The only slight thing I think the clubs could do better is spread the purse between first, second and third rather than just the winner, that way everyone gets a slice of the pie."
Whilst Nana's Habit is going gangbusters, Anderson is also getting plenty of satisfaction through the deeds of boom sprinter Pindari Express, the Tracy Scruse trained youngster winning each of his three career starts in mind-boggling times.
Anderson bred the star youngster, a younger half-brother to champion Ando's Mac, from his grand producer Brook's Doll.
"He could be anything couldn't he? He's got so much ahead of him," declared Anderson.
"We looked back and the times he's running early are even better than what Ando's Mac was running at the same time, you obviously need to take the next step but he looks to have a huge future for Tracey, we couldn't be any happier with how he's going for her."
Brook's Doll's (Collison x Monique's Doll) progeny is far responsible for 63 race wins and a further 47 placings with prizemoney of $736,000, largely due of course to the heroic deeds of Ando's Mac, with Anderson reporting she has a fourth litter on the ground to Where's Pedro, six pups currently 10 months of age.
"They are being reared by Peter Sims and we have really high hopes, the plan is to have a fifth litter to Barcia Bale and that will more than likely be her last. She's been a terrific producer for us."
