New Slot For Wentworth Park In Fixture Shake-Up

RACING at Dapto and Wentworth Park will coexist on a Thursday night under a proposed new weekly racing schedule released by GRNSW.

RACING at Dapto and Wentworth Park will coexist on a Thursday night under a proposed new weekly racing schedule released by Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) for the 2024/25 racing season.

Aimed at maximising wagering returns, metropolitan racing at Wentworth Park will now be staged on a Thursday night along with the usual Saturday night slot, aligning with the premier weekly meetings at Sandown Park and The Meadows in Victoria.

Under the proposed move, Richmond will return to its traditional Friday night timeslot, following the recent six-month Wednesday night trial when racing for midweek city prize money.

To complement the flagship Friday night slot, racing at Richmond on the circle track will also remain in the twilight slot on a Wednesday and Sunday.

In the proposed calendar shake-up, Saturday morning racing at the Richmond Straight will become a thing of the past with Muswellbrook and Taree to share the slot.

Racing at Dapto

Racing at the Richmond Straight will be permanently staged in the day slot of a Thursday.

Interestingly, racing in the north will be conducted from Sunday to Wednesday, with no racing slated in the northern rivers region on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday.

Grafton will remain in the Sunday twilight slot, while sharing the Tuesday twilight slot with Casino.

Taree and Casino will both occupy the Wednesday night slot in what could prove troublesome for trainers.

While the remainder of the calendar largely stays the same, racing at Lithgow will slot into the Monday twilight slot when the track development is completed.

It is the slot historically held by Bathurst until its demise in late 2022 due to a devastating flood event.

While the proposed racing schedule is finalised, what meetings are staged on Sky 1 and Sky 2 is yet to be determined.
