No ‘Regrets' For Klemke Ahead Of Group 1 Galaxy

HE'S been training full time for just two years and 25-year-old Victorian Dallan Klemke is not going to miss his career highlight so far for anything.

Dallan owns and trains Full Of Regrets (My Bro Fabio-Ella Enchanted) which runs in the final of the Group 1 WA Galaxy (715m) from box one at Cannington on Saturday night.

Sean Kavanagh has been handling the bitch's last-minute preparation for the series which resulted in a heat win last Saturday night.

"I've booked my flight to Perth for Saturday morning," Klemke said.

"But, I've booked to come home on the red eye at 12.25am. I have the Geelong Premier Division lawn bowls finals on the Sunday.

"Our team won it last year, so I have to be back."

Dallan is a greyhound racing "tragic".

"My brother Brayden trained dogs a few years ago when I was just a kid, but I followed him everywhere when he was racing and trialling," he said.

"I spent four years catching dogs for anyone at Bendigo.

"But, I couldn't wait to leave school and get into dogs."

At 18, he first started with Michael Chillcott, then moved to Rod Clark, on then to Jason Sharp, then Danny Gibbons.

"I picked up bits and pieces from everyone," he said.

Dan Gibbons raced Titan Blazer for owner Peter Arnott who then offered Dallan to take over the greyhound property he owned and he has been there for the past two years.

"I've got 10 races dogs and nine pups," Klemke said.

"Jamie and Brooke (Ennis) have been wonderful and that's how I got Full Of Regrets and the sister Flaws And Sins.

"I pre-trained the pups from that litter for Jamie and Brooke and ended up with those two. I sold Flaws And Sins and kept Full Of Regrets."

Also in the litter is the classy Ella's Babe (9 wins, $78,000) the winner of the G3 Fireball and twice a Group 1 finalist.

Dallan was at home watching Sky Racing when he spotted an advertisement for the upcoming WA Galaxy.

"I rang Jamie to see if he was taking any of his to Perth, but he convinced me to send Full Of Regrets to Sean (Kavanagh) for the series,” Klemke added.

Sean had sent his top staying bitch We The People to Jamie for a Sandown Cup campaign several years ago and Jamie and Brooke have sent dogs to him in Perth for the carnivals.

"She only arrived a couple of weeks ago, then had a 600 metre trial in which she went only fair," he added.

"But she is a 700 metre bitch and she showed that in her heat win.

"Yes, the time was well off the pace, but she lost lengths in the run and I think she can be competitive in the final.

"She's a cheeky chance."

Full of Regrets will stay with Kavanagh for the next month with the Group 3 The Miata coming up at Cannington.
