Nominations Released For Topgun Sprint and Distance

THE Melbourne Greyhound Racing Association (MGRA) has sent out invitations to nominate for the exclusive Group 1  TAB Topgun and Topgun Stayers events to be held at The Meadows on Saturday night 6 November.  

Connections who have received invitations to nominate now have until 12 noon on Thursday 21 October 2021 to  lodge a nomination with Greyhound Racing Victoria (GRV) should they wish to be considered for a position in the final  fields.  

MGRA Chair Eddie Caruana noted it will be a tough year for the panel to select their top eight.  

"It's been another challenging year for everyone, particularly in Victoria and NSW, however it is a credit to our industry  how well we've managed COVID and the quality of greyhounds across Australia remains as strong as ever.  

Like every year the panel are going to have a very difficult time selecting the final fields in both the sprinters and the  stayers. There is no doubt some very talented dogs are going to miss a spot."  

The Group 1 TAB Topgun carries first place prizemoney of $150,000 for the Sprinters and $75,000 for the stayers,  having been won by some outstanding greyhounds over the years. This year is sure to be no different. Information on  the field announcement will be released shortly.
