GROUP 1 National Derby winner Oh Mickey is about to embark on an ambitious feature race program.

Owner-trainer Clint Kratzmann said this after the royally bred son of Fernando Bale-Iona Champion ran a scorching 29.68 to win at Albion Park on Thursday night.

He looked awesome scoring by five lengths over Oblivinator and Regal Jade.

It was his seventh victory in nine starts.

“I'm looking at the Richmond Derby and then the Golden Easter Egg,” said Clint.

Oh Mickey was trained in the lead-up to his National Derby victory at Wentworth Park by Central Coast conditioner Troy Donaldson.

The Group 2 Richmond Derby, worth $40,000 to-the-winner, will be run on February 28 and March 5, while the Group 1 Golden Easter Egg is set down for March 28, April 4 and 11.

“I have always dreamed of getting a dog like this, but to be training him myself is fabulous,” said Clint.

“He deserves his chance in races like the Derby at Richmond and the Easter Egg.

“I just have to sit down and work out the plan to get him to those races.”
