One Patron A Chance Of $1m Prize On MDC Night

Rugby League fans will get a taste of greyhound racing at its finest with Fox League to televise Saturday night’s Million Dollar Chase at Wentworth Park.

RUGBY League fans will get a taste of greyhound racing at its finest with Fox League to televise Saturday night's TAB Million Dollar Chase at Wentworth Park.

Straight after the Cowboys and Knights slog it out in Townsville, the focus will quickly turn to the world's richest greyhound race, where eight of the sport's fastest greyhounds will vie for the staggering $1 million first prize.

Earlier this week, GRNSW CEO Tony Mestrov was joined trackside at Wentworth Park by Melbourne Storm superstar Ryan Papenhuyzen and leading Fox League identities Bryan Fletcher and Nathan Hindmarsh for the announcement.

"This is tremendous news for our industry," Mestrov said.

"Fox League and their unique coverage of rugby league fits that 18-35 demographic which our research has shown is where interest in greyhound racing has surged.

"We realised there was a strong link between the two sports some time ago, and that was one of the reasons behind GRNSW signing one of the game's superstars, Ryan Papenhuyzen, as our sport's latest ambassador.

"And to have the likes of Matty Johns, Fletch and Hindy, Matt Nable, and other league identities involved in promoting the TAB Million Dollar Chase is a massive coup for our sport."

While Fox League's coverage will have viewers at home all set, those trackside will have the chance to win $1 million in cash, the biggest prize ever offered at an Australian race meeting.

Each person that pays their $20 entry fee will go into a draw to have a shot at winning the $1 million prize but even if unsuccessful in winning the main prize, will still walk away with $10,000.

"We know that the excitement of watching the best greyhounds in the country race for the biggest prize in the world is enough to entice people to the track," Mestrov said.

"But we wanted to make it irresistible for people. We wanted to add something extra to attract people who might not normally have considered attending to this Saturday come out to the track and experience what a tremendous night's entertainment greyhound racing is.

"And this is the perfect night to head to Wentworth Park with numerous feature races, highlighted by the best of the best in the TAB Million Dollar Chase Grand Final."

Saturday night's star-studded Wentworth Park program, which features a smorgasbord of feature events, begins at 6.32pm.

The TAB Million Dollar Chase will get underway at 9.50pm where Australian greyhound racing's pin-up girl She's A Pearl will start a raging hot favourite.
