Paul Wheeler's Funeral Details Announced

Mindful of Covid-19 travel constraints within NSW, the funeral of greyhound industry icon Paul Wheeler will be held on Monday November 1.

Mindful of Covid-19 travel constraints within NSW, the funeral of greyhound industry icon Paul Wheeler will be held on Monday November 1 at The Church of St. John the Evangelist in Young at 11am.

NSW Health restrictions on numbers attending memorial and funeral services will be removed at midnight on October 31 but social distancing applies to those attending any memorial or funeral service.

"We have been humbled by the support we have received and the family decided to delay the funeral so that no one who wants to say goodbye misses out," Jan Wheeler said.

"Numbers, due to social distancing inside the Church, will be limited but we are lucky to have people here with great audio-visual skills and large screens will be outside [at the Church] as well at the Young Harness Racing Club.

"The service will be streamed live at the harness track and also be live on Facebook.

"Church attendance, by NSW Health orders, is restricted to only those who have been double vaccinated for Covid-19 but there is no constraint for persons outside or at the harness track as far as I understand."

Paul Wheeler's sudden death shocked the entire racing industry.

He leaves a legacy of excellence and his mark on greyhound racing will endure.

November 1 will be a sad day but those able to attend will celebrate a life which touched so many.

For those watching from Young Harness Club, Jan and the family will be trackside immediately following the service at St Johns.
