Perfect Draw Has Jabeni Primed For Masters Tilt

JABENI has won five races at Wentworth Park but has not gone better than he did when third in the Masters Meteor final last Saturday night.

JABENI has won five races at Wentworth Park but has not gone better than he did when third in the Masters Meteor final last Saturday and is boxed to notch his sixth win at headquarters on Saturday night.

Last week Jabeni drew box eight – his worst possible draw – in the Meteor final and suffered severe interference before finishing eight lengths behind Fire Legend and Gypsy Yankee.

FIELDS AND FORM WENTWORTH PARK SATURDAY NIGHT

On Saturday night Jabeni, who has won seven races wearing the red rug, will exit that preferred box again in the 520m Ladbroke It! Masters Stakes.

Trainer Blake Moroney said: “In the run to the first turn in the Meteor final some of the other dogs were pushing Jabeni towards the outside fence.

“He is pretty cluey because after a while he got sick of it and pulled back to dive over onto the rails.

“But by then it was too late, the leaders were off and gone.

“Jabeni can run quick times in solo trials and before the Meteor final I gave him a hand-slip at The Gardens and despite the fact the track had been turned and was not fast he ran home in 11.45, outstanding figures.”

Jabeni looks to have a perfect draw on Saturday with Zulu Warlord, who gets wide and is not strong at the end of 520m, in box two, and with box three vacant.

Twinkle Toes Tom clocked easily his fastest WP time of 30sec flat when he won from box one on May 25 and is capable of repeating those figures in Saturday night's tenth race, a 520m fifth grade.

The dog took a tumble at Richmond at his most recent race on September 21 but took no harm from the fall.

Trainer Allen Hansen said: “I gave him a post to post hand-slip at Wentworth Park on Tuesday night and he went well.

“A variety of little mishaps have prevented me getting him back to Wenty after his win in May.

“He sustained a little muscle tear and then when I was getting him ready for the TAB Million Dollar Chase he picked up a bug.

“Twinkle Toes Tom went ordinary when fifth at Bulli on August 2 and came down with a virus soon after.

“Thankfully he seems to be over all his troubles and my only concern about Saturday is that Twinkle Toes Tom barks and tends to play up in the kennels so being in the last race is no help.”

Especially Rare has a poor record from inside boxes but can notch her first success wearing the red rug in Saturday night's Ladbrokes Same Race Multi Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.

She has not won in nine appearances from boxes one to four but could lead throughout on Saturday as Wyndra All Class, in box two, is a wide runner, and favourite Punter's Bandit, who has drawn box four, lacks early speed.

Especially Rare's third behind Wyndra All Class and Bankrolled at WP on September 21 was an outstanding effort.

At the first turn she was badly checked by a wide runner and lost valuable ground before hanging on gamely to wind up six lengths behind the winner.

Cawbourne Magic, who has won four long-distance races at WP, looks graded to win again in Saturday's Sponsor A Race At Wenty Stakes, a 720m fifth grade.

The Andy Lord-trained stayer should only need to dodge trouble at the first turn to win comfortably.

He is the only greyhound in the field to have broken 42sec at WP and punters can ignore his nine lengths' sixth to Super Estrella in the much tougher Sydney Cup final last Saturday night.

Cawbourne Magic began well but lost all chance when badly checked on the first corner.
