Photo Man Picture Perfect For Group 1 Quest

COUSINS Gavin Clifton and Dave MacKenzie will head home to Victoria at the weekend but reckon they have the crest of a winning wave to ride yet.

COUSINS Gavin Clifton and Dave MacKenzie will head home to Victoria at the weekend but reckon they have the crest of a winning wave to ride yet.

They have Photo Man (Aston Dee Bee-Amlin Mystique) drawn the coveted rails in the final of the Group 1 Brisbane Cup (520m) at Albion Park on Thursday night.

They cannot believe their luck with the box draws since heading to Queensland for the Winter Carnival.

In five starts at Albion Park, Photo Man has drawn the red three times.

That's the box he came from to beat Amron Boy in the Group 2 Flying Amy Classic on June 16.

“Yes, we've had a bit of luck with the box draws,” said Dave.

“We'll ride the wave while we can.”

In six weeks in Queensland, Photo Man has earned $115,000 with the Brisbane Cup to come on Thursday night and a $350,000 pay day beckoning.

Photo Man has been left in the Graham and Leanne Hall kennel at Marburg.

“I arrived this week to find Photo Man bouncing,” said Dave. “He has done so well up in Queensland and it is a credit to the Halls how they have looked after him.

“His coat is gleaming.”

The Halls will take on Photo Man in the Cup final with their home grown star Extra Malt which has drawn the four.

Of the final, Dave MacKenzie said he and Gavin had considered a number of scenarios and they have come up with Photo Man having a great chance of winning.

“He is always a reliable beginner,” said Dave.

“But, Tony Brett's dog out in the eight looks well placed, especially when his kennelmate in the seven likes to go left.

“Orchestrate should get room early.”

Photo Man and his connections will return to Victoria at the weekend and now plans have been made for his immediate future.

He's got a Brisbane Cup on the instant radar and the one box to give him a fabulous chance at success.
