Plunge Hits The Mark At Shepparton

PUNTERS pulled off a good old fashioned plunge at Shepparton on Monday night with reserve runner South Of Eden getting the chocolates in the sixth event of the program from box two.

Backed to the exclusion of all other runners from basically the time markets opened, the Dylan Bate-trained son of My Bro Fabio started a raging hot $1.60 favourite when the boxes opened, after as much as 16/1 was offered earlier in the day.

The relentless flood of money continued right up until jump time, firming from $3.00 into $1.60 odd in a frenetic final minute or two of betting.

For his vast group of followers the watch was relatively pain free, beginning well to hold the rail early before pulling away late to score by a little over a length in 25.72.

Out of top former group winning stayer Key To Eden, the early odds on offer for the reserve runner did seem rather generous, given just four days earlier the well-bred type returned to winning form at Warragul in a best of meeting 22.96.

Before that however his form was definitely out of sorts, failing to land a blow at his past 11 appearances.
