The Daily Telegraph’s Adam Dobbin and GRNSW’s Tim Newbold dissect TAB Million Dollar Chase night at Wentworth Park.

Race 1

AD: Sensational night of racing Tim with an eye-watering amount of money on offer. Reckon we can get off to a flyer in the first with SHE’S A HOTSHOT (2). Led up before tiring in a MDC semi last week and a repeat performance should be good enough here. SPRINGVIEW HAWK (5) comes into this off placings in strong races and is right in the mix while I thought FLASH BANNER (1) could figure in the exotics.

TIPS: 2,5,1,8

TN: We’re seeing the opener very similar Adam. Broken Hill Cup winner SHE’S A HOTSHOT (2) drops sharply in class on her debut in Sydney last week and draws to find the lure and will take some catching. SPRINGVIEW HAWK (5) is a definite danger. Ultra-consistent chaser and ready to win again but just needs an ounce of luck to get across from the poor draw. LAGOON MAX (8) has the early speed to be competitive and must be strongly considered.

TIPS: 2,5,8,1

Race 2

AD: Was hard not to be taken by the heat win of blueblood OUR BOY DUKE (1) and from the same draw in the final I’ve got him on top. WE DON’T SHARE (4) finished runner-up to him in the heats and he looks the logical danger. I expect the big improvers to be Victorian’s NATTEO BALE (3) and LOVAZ BALE (6) from the heats. Will take plenty from their maiden performances.

TIPS: 1,3,4,6

TN: Same numbers Adam but in a different order. Agree OUR BOY DUKE (1) is the benchmark. Loved his maiden victory after a slight stumble shortly after box-rise. Draws perfectly and confident he’ll maintain the unbeaten record. WE DON’T SHARE (4) is the baby of the field and will derive a stack of benefit from his debut performance. Although LOVAZ BALE (6) didn’t break the clock in his heat victory, there was plenty of merit in the win. At a double figure quote, he’s worth a saver bet.

TIPS: 1,4,6,3

Race 3

AD: It’s going to be a keen contest for the top here Tim and I get the feeling that’ll decide the result. Landed with OPAL MODEL (7) out wide. She’s got speed to burn and while she’s up in grade was a good last start winner. CASTLE WARRIOR (4) is a group 2 winner that chased home She’s A Pearl last start and hasn’t missed a place at WPK in eight looks. Say no more. ASIRAM (3) racing in career best form but he’s harshly graded tonight. Going out on a limb and saying you are with Castle Warrior?

TIPS: 7,4,3,2

TN: He’s got a fabulous chance Adam but you’re wrong, I’m with the bonnie little girl ANALYSING. She gave a massive sight in an MDC semi last week only to be collared in the latter stages. Relishes racing at HQ and draws underneath all the speed which is a big plus in this race. CASTLE WARRIOR (4) is the class runner. Bulli Cup winner and has been gallant without winning in his past 2 starts. OPAL MODEL (7) is a wide-runner so perfectly drawn and has the early zip to contest the lead. Winning hope.

TIPS: 2,4,7,3

Race 4

AD: Ladies Bracelet where Peter Lagogiane is shooting for back-to-back wins in the race with exciting prospect FRENCH MARTINI (5). I actually don’t mind the draw for her and I am confident her best can see her home. TIES THAT BIND (3) sizzled early to her heat victory and expect she looks the leader for a long way (if not all of it) while Victorian MCKEON BALE (1) has the gun draw and will be all the better for her impressive heat hit out.

TIPS: 5,3,1,8

TN: Was really taken with the Sydney debut last week of MCKEON BALE (1) Adam. She now moves to the more favourable inside and confident she’ll punch up and hold a prominent spot at the first corner. Certain to improve time-wise on her heat victory. TIES THAT BIND (3) produced a brilliant front-running exhibition winning her heat in slick figures and is clearly the one to beat despite a sticky draw. FRENCH MARTINI (5) is a real up and comer. Reckon there’s a feature race in store for her at some stage, whether it’s tonight, is another matter.

TIPS: 1,3,5,6

Race 5

AD: Going to need luck but if SIMPLY LIMELIGHT (8) gets his even share reckon he can overcome the horror draw. Loaded with ability, his future is over longer but this is a winnable race if he gets the breaks. ROBOTNIK (5) is a raw progressive type that should take benefit out of last week’s heat win and Victorian QUINLAN BALE (3) is a dog on the up and should be better for last week’s first Sydney run. Left the red out Tim, he’s never seen it before which can sometimes be a hindrance more than a help.

TIPS: 8,5,3,2

TN: I’m in the corner of FLIGHTY FERNANDO (2) on an each-way basis at good odds Adam. Not the fastest dog in the race but geez he’s genuine and gives his all every time he steps onto the track. All recent runs have been full of merit and he’s knocking on the door. QUINLAN BALE (3) was great winning first-up at Wenty last week and just needs some clear air in the early stages to go close. Agree with your view on SIMPLY LIMELIGHT (8). He’s got a massive engine but drawn on the wrong side of the track, is desperate for the fence.

TIPS: 2,3,8,1

Race 6

AD: Masters Meteor Final where my best of the night steps out in KOORINGA LUCY (3). Really bullish about her prospects at around the $2.4 mark. FIRE LEGEND (1) gets the gun draw to have him prominent throughout and there was nothing wrong with his heat run. ANGRY BLIZZARD (2) is a must for exotics while I just can’t get RITZA GLORIA (8) into the numbers from that upside down draw.

TIPS: 3,1,2,4

TN: Mark Maroney had earmarked this series for FIRE LEGEND (1) late last year and reckon he’ll go close after coming up with his cherished inside draw. 37-time winner and he’s got a 57% winning strike-rate from the red. Strips fitter for his heat run and can pinch it bowling along in front. I can see why your confidence is high with KOORINGA LUCY (3). Racing in superb form and she’s got the speed to hold a spot early and will knuckle down late. She’s the one to beat. And I can’t leave my old favourite SUNBURNT HIGHWAY (4) out. Would be a real fairytale if he was to go back-to-back in this series at his swansong.

TIPS: 1,3,4,5

Race 7

AD: Gold Cup Final where the market has it a race in two and it’s impossible to argue. I’m actually going with the minor upset of SUPER ESTRELLA (6) to defeat ZIPPING KANSAS (5) in what promises to be a cracking clash. Just concerned how Kansas is stepping at the moment with the middle draw doing him no favours. HANK THE HUSTLER (3) and MICKS RECALL (4) are the next best two from a class perspective so look to them for multiples. Sticking with Kansas, Tim?

TIPS: 6,5,4,3

TN: No Adam, I’m jumping off the bandwagon for this race. His poor box manners are a major concern with so much speed drawn on his inside and outside. I’m with SUPER ESTRELLA (6) as well, she deserves that elusive big race win. Makes her own luck rolling along on the pace and she’ll be awfully hard to run down. No doubting ZIPPING KANSAS’S (5) ability, he’s clearly the fastest dog in the race but needs to begin on better terms than what we have seen in recent runs. HANK THE HUSTLER (3) has a touch of class while HOLISTIC KEY (1) can sneak into the minor money.

TIPS: 5,6,3,1

Race 8

AD: Consolation of the MDC has brought together a terrific field. Lot to like about FERNANDO HUNTER’S (2) second last week in his MDC semi and back to an inside draw tonight is a huge plus to his chances. Should sit on the tail of ZIPPING MASERATI (1) which appears the likely leader and make for a great race late. ZIPPY TESLA (4) will be getting home if he gets clear air early and MODERN TALKING (7) is nearing a return to the winners list. Good race Tim, plenty of chances.

TIPS: 2,1,7,4

TN: I’m reading this race exactly like you Adam. FERNANDO HUNTER (2) is my best bet on the card. Found early trouble last week but his effort to finish runner-up was outstanding. He’s a real case for an inside draw and gets it here and should follow the red and get the last shot at him. ZIPPING MASERATI (1) was all set to qualify for the MDC GF but was collared late in his semi. Obvious danger. The Victorian ZIPPY TESLA (4) deserves a Sydney win and can’t be discounted.

TIPS: 2,1,4,6

Race 9

AD: Nothing left to be said about the remarkable SHE’S PEARL (4) other than that she’s in a world of her own. No reason in the world she doesn’t continue on her winning way tonight – freak with a capital F. If there’s to be an upset I expect it to come from GOOD ODDS CASH (5) but like the rest of the field is needing the fav to blot the copy book. For exotic players RITZA DONNA (2) is crazy odds. If the favourite puts a gap on them she can get home into the money for sure.

TN: What a winning streak SHE’S A PEARL is on which of course has included the Golden Easter Egg. Shoots for her 12th straight victory now and starting to build a Winx-like record. Impossible to tip against the favourite in my view. Agree GOOD ODDS CASH (5) could cause an upset if the favourite missed the kick. COAST MODEL (1) from a gun draw will give a sight but needs to ping the lids to hold the front. And RITZA DONNA (2) must go into all the wider multiples.

TIPS: 4,5,1,2

Race 10

AD: Pretty confident YUKO GIRL (8) can send us home a winner in the last tonight Tim. Had she drawn better last week there’s every chance she would have been going around a race earlier. Got a big future and in this class can offset box eight. ZIPPING PEARSON’S (3) last win here, albeit in easier class, was A+ while ZIPPING LOPEZ (4) has solid form credentials for this as well.

TIPS: 8,4,3,6

TN: We concur in the closer Adam. Super keen on YUKO GIRL (8) as well. Desperately unlucky when she couldn’t cross from a wide draw in an MDC semi last week but meets a field with less speed here so confident she gets across and finds the front. ZIPPING LOPEZ (4) is racing well without winning and drops in class on recent runs. Must be strongly considered while FATHER RICK (6) rises in grade but has the early speed to give a sight.

TIPS: 8,4,6,3
