Pups From Champion Line Well Within Reach

WHEN Kerry Drynan and her mum Doreen sold Chica Destacada as an eight month old pup, it allowed others to tap into a hugely successful damline nurtured by Doreen over many, many years.

Chica Destacada, of course, went on to win the Group 1 National Sprint and run second in the Group 1 Melbourne Cup.

But, the bitch achieved greatness through her litters by Fernando Bale and Barcia Bale, producing a galaxy of Group 1 stars.

While Kerry in particular laments the sale of Chica Destacada, today she and mum Doreen are realistic.

“We have a lot of young 10 and 12 month old pups about to come into the kennels,” Kerry said.

“And we have a number of bitches with just born litters and some on the way which we will also have for sale. We just can't possibly keep them all.”

They include an Sh Avatar x Magic Lace litter due soon.

Magic Lace (Magic Sprite-Midnight Lace) was a finalist in the Group 1 Paws Of Thunder and her first litter to My Redeemer has produced the talented Makutu and Wishing.

Also, Beat The Bank (My Bro Fabio-Doo Wop Hooligan) a winner at Wenty, has whelped a litter of seven to Ritza Lenny which are eight weeks old.

Her second dam is Eluthra, the dam of Chica Destacada.

“I've also got a litter by Superior Panama from a bitch called Blue Brooke which is a Barcia Bale-Midnight Lace bitch. She broke a hock after education and never raced but was highly promising,” Kerry added.

“She broke in so well we kept her for a litter.”

Given the volume of pups coming through Kerry's been left with no alternative than to begin selling some of her regally bred youngsters.
