Razor's Edge Set For Sale Cup Tilt

COMEBACK stayer Razor's Edge takes on the heats of the Group 1 Sale Cup (650m) on Sunday a year after he was originally meant to be in the race.

The son of Cutting Edge-Enjoy takes on Weblec Ace, Bobby The Brute, Sunset Bourbski and Dark Arrow in a star-studded heat in a star-studded series.

Razor's Edge is on the comeback trail after being sidelined in December last year after tearing a back muscle which put him out of action until October.

He had won in 33.90 beating Roper River Jake at his 595m debut at Sandown on December 8 in 2019 and the Sale Cup was his target.

Breeder-owner Geoff Collins said: “He was absolutely flying at the time only to hurt that back muscle.

“We decided to give him a long time off to recover and after six months he started trialling again.

“However, he is one of those dogs that is so laid back he is hard to get to work and consequently get fit quickly.”

In eight starts since resuming racing, Razor's Edge has won four and been second three times including a slick 37.75 last start at Bendigo.

“We've trialled him twice at Sale and he's raced once there but it is a four-hour drive from here so he is going into the heat, I suppose you could say fresh,” said Collins.

Collins said Razor's Edge is easily the fastest greyhound he has owned, better even than Group 1 winners Zara Zulu and Isa Brown.

“His run home times are off the charts,” he said.

“We were so hopeful of the Sale Cup last year with him and now that it is here in front of us, we had to give him his chance this time around.”
