EXCITING juvenile Rebellious has stormed into Friday night's The Prospector (425m) with a dazzling heat victory at Bendigo on Sunday.

The Jason Thompson-trained 22 month old chaser scored in a flying 23.47, the time less than two-lengths outside Shima Shine's 23.35 track record.

It was a performance that will see the gifted son of Barcia Bale and On The Runway start favourite for Friday night's $15,000-to-the-winner decider.

"The time didn't surprise me at all," Thompson said.

"If you go through his runs he's proven he can run time and to be honest he really should be still unbeaten. He'd been crying out for box eight as well.

"He's just a dog that keeps improving."

Sunday's impressive heat success extended Rebellious' overall career record to seven wins from nine appearances with Thompson predicting the exciting conveyance is open to further improvement.

Rebellious' dam On The Runway is a daughter of the great Nicki Fields, making her a full-sister to Group 1 stars Poke The Bear and Out Of Range.

"He's always shown ability but it wasn't until he started racing that he showed he was capable of running these sorts of times," Thompson said.

"There's some options coming up for him but for the next few months at least I'll keep poking around with him and placing him as best I can.

"He hasn't even trialled at either of the city tracks yet. There's plenty of time for all that."

Friday night's finale of The Prospector shapes up as a fantastic spectacle.

An age-restricted event open to male greyhounds, the remaining heats on Sunday were annexed by Designated in 23.79 and Masked Avenger in 23.70.
