Record On Notice Ahead Of Harada's Bathurst Return

GOOD Odds Harada will have a hit out at Bathurst Monday before heading to Wentworth Park this Saturday for the preludes of the Million Dollar Chase.

GOOD Odds Harada will have a final hit out at Bathurst on Monday night before heading to Wentworth Park this Saturday for the city preludes of the TAB Million Dollar Chase.

And if everything goes according to script, trainer Frank Hurst expects the reigning Million Dollar Chase winner to go into Saturday's qualifiers with a track record in his keeping.

"I'm going to Bathurst with seven but I don't really care what happens as long as Harada breaks the track record," Hurst said.

"He's finally drawn an inside box and he's trialled there in 25.18 before.

"I took him up to Bathurst the other week and he went 25.27 so if the track is in good order I'd be surprised if he doesn't break the record on Monday."

The current Bathurst benchmark stands with Double Up Dee at 25.37, a time-standard which has stood since December 2018.

"It'd be great for his stud career – he's ran it enough times in trials so it would be nice to have it on his record," Hurst said.

"He needed a good hit-out before Saturday's city preludes and he loves Bathurst so it worked in well.

"If he comes out and puts eight on them up the back he should break the record. If the track's good."

Good Odds Harada has been installed $1.30 for Monday night's free-for-all where he faces just an opposition of four.

Interestingly, one of those opponents is Good Odds Harada's litter-sister Good Odds Meghan, drawn box five.

"She's had a few runs back now since whelping a litter of pups," Hurst offered.

"They are nine months old to Fernando Bale. We always bring the bitches back to racing if we can and had some good success as well.

"Good Odds Regina won a free for all in town after having a litter of pups. Meghan can't win tonight but she's going well enough to pick up her races."

Monday night's Bathurst card begins with four heats of the Ladbrokes Red Dog Maiden (307m) with next week's finale worth a cool $6,500 to winning connections.

And Hurst is poised to play a leading hand in the series, represented by five debutants from his exciting Fernando Bale x Good Odds Angel litter.

"They've all got good speed and have been trailing well at Bathurst," Hurst said.

"But it's a 300 maiden with first starters so anything can happen.

"They can all go well but I'm not getting too carried away until I see them after a start or two.

"I reckon the dog in race four, Good Odds Reward, is the pick of mine in the heats.

"Good Odds Rebel in the first is a chance as well but I see they've put a bit of money on the yellow (Helen's Memory).

"The dog in race three Sound Of Silence is a real nice dog but I think he'll need longer. And box eight isn't ideal either as he can be tardy early.

“It will be good experience for all of them."
