Rejuvenate Stuns In Silver Chief Heat Romp

STAR youngster Rejuvenate has roared into the Group 1 Silver Chief Final (525m) with a mind-blowing victory at The Meadows on Saturday night.

STAR youngster Rejuvenate has roared into the Group 1 Silver Chief Final (525m) with a mind-blowing victory at The Meadows on Saturday night.

In a performance that had to be seen to be believed, Rejuvenate – a son of stud dog of the moment Hooked On Scotch – stopped the clock in a remarkable 29.47.

Yes, 29.47, just 1 1/2 lengths outside Allen Deed's longstanding 29.37 track record.

Winner at 10 of 12 starts, including victory in the Group 3 Northern Districts Cup recently, Rejuvenate is as exciting a young dog as there is in the country at present.

And it was that lofty standing that had the now Silver Chief hopeful awfully close to a berth in the $1.65 The Phoenix at The Meadows in a fortnight's time.

It was only last week that one of the last remaining slot holder's gave serious consideration towards pinning their faith in the budding superstar for the $1m-to-the-winner showpiece.

And on the strength of Saturday night's 10-length Silver Chief heat romp, who is to say the Peter Brown-trained talent wouldn't have been out of place.

Rejuvenate will exit box two in next Saturday night's $100,000-to-the-winner finale as the second fastest qualifier.

Time honours went the way of Amron Boy which recorded a dazzling 29.45 to win through to the group 1 decider.

Trained by Brooke and Jamie Ennis, Amron Boy, will exit box three in the Silver Chief before representing SEN in the following week's The Phoenix at the same venue.

Team Ennis also qualified Amron Dan for the Silver Chief while Jason Thompson, a five-time Silver Chief winning trainer, will be represented by Triumph in box seven.

Emerging stud dog Hooked On Scotch landed a second Silver Chief hopeful with False Confidence continuing his winning form for trainer Aaron Debattista while Jeff Britton won through with Scofflaw's impressive heat victory in heat seven.

Scofflaw, a winner in a slick 29.83, is a son of Britton's former superstar turned influential stud dog Mepunga Blazer.

Next Saturday's Silver Chief will have a Bale influence with Euler Bale scoring for Deb Coleman in 29.86 while Landyn Bale won in 30.06 for Melbourne Cup winning trainer Mark Delbridge.
