Remus Boxed To Emulate Feral In Vic Peters Decider

ZIPPING Remus is perfectly poised to emulate the deeds of his star sire Feral Franky after drawing the rails for Saturday night’s G1 Vic Peters Classic.

ZIPPING Remus is perfectly poised to emulate the deeds of his star sire Feral Franky after drawing the prized rails alley for next Saturday night's Group 1 Vic Peters Classic (520m).

Continuing the remarkable ascension to his career, Zipping Remus landed his heat at Wentworth Park on Saturday night by an ever widening 11 ¼ lengths in a flying 29.49, the performance surging him to odds on favouritism for the group 1 showpiece.

If successful in next Saturday night's Vic Peters it will deliver John and Minnie Finn consecutive wins in the event after Gatlin's ripping victory last year.

And it would be another big tick for the huge stud upstart for Feral Franky which won the time-honoured race back in 2019.

"He was well boxed in eight, his problem is the start, he just can't work that out yet," Minnie Finn said of Zipping Remus post race.

"He can go quicker than that too; it's just that his box manners are terrible.

"From day one he's always had the ability. We rushed him a little bit early on but he's finding his groove now."

The second Vic Peters heat was annexed by the Alan Proctor-trained Tarawi Tiger which continued his uprise with a gritty three-quarter length 29.90 win.

In a race that looked set to be dominated by National Derby runner-up Starline Express and Victorian Al's Entity, it was Tarawai Tiger which reigned supreme, extending his record to eight wins from 14 starts for a jubilant Proctor.

The third and final heat produced the upset of the night with Calypso Rogue scoring at big odds for Wallsend trainer Harry Norman in 29.93.

Betting suggested One Hot Bandit and Royal Nangar would dominate the race but were never really were in the hunt after moderate getaways.

Following the box draw, Tab.com.au installed Zipping Remus a red hot $1.50 favourite from box one with Al's Entity on the next line of betting at $7.

On paper, it's Zipping Remus' race to lose.
