Rhonda Ready To Fire At Hobart

LAUNCESTON Cup winner Hello Rhonda looks set to get punters off on the right note at Hobart this Thursday, all-the-rage in the opening race of the program.

HELLO Rhonda had not raced for four weeks prior to her solid second placing last week but with that run under her belt, the highly talented sprinter is expected to score at Hobart this Thursday night.

The Robin Grubb-trained greyhound, winner of the Group 2 Launceston Cup earlier this year, has box two in the opening race on the program over the 340-metre scamper, where she will start a prohibitive $1.20 favourite.

By Fernando Bale out of Sing The Song, the white and brindle bitch hasn't won a race since claiming the $40,000 feature at Launceston back in February, though she has run two minor placings from her past four outings.

First up at Hobart over the 340m last week, Hello Rhonda was tough in producing a narrow second to kennelmate Hello Nugget, the pair in a ding-dong battle throughout.

"She hit a bit of a flat spot after the Launceston Cup so I decided to give her a short spell at home," Grubb said.

"She has been jumping out of her skin since I brought her back into work and last week's second to Hello Nugget was a great run. The two really battled it out once they came into the home straight though Hello Rhonda just found him a tad too strong."

The Fernando Bale x Sing The Song litter have chalked up 41 wins from their 85 race starts in Tassie.

The pin-up chaser from the litter is Peco Can, the hugely talented sprinter continuing on her merry winning way when exploding from the boxes to record another all-the-way victory in the Division 1 Final of the G.O.T.B.A.T series last Thursday, running a red-hot 25.59 from box 4.

"Peco Can is back to her best, she can't put a foot wrong, the litter turn three years-old in September so that will see them at their peak you'd think.

"Hello Lenny won at Devonport on Tuesday for Terry Ackerly – he's had hock trouble lately so I don't think he is at his best yet."
