Sacred Stance Overcomes Injury For Sizzling Return

FORMER Tassie star Sacred Stance returned from an injury-enforced break with a stylish Maitland win for new trainer Michelle Sultana on Monday.

FORMER Tassie sprint star Sacred Stance returned from an injury-enforced two month break with a stylish Maitland win for new trainer Michelle Sultana on Monday night.

The son of Beast Unleashed and Adorable Lady scored by three lengths in 22.39 beating promising Denver Nismo in the 400m 5th Grade.

It was his ninth win in 14 starts.

Sacred Stance was bought for a high five-figure sum after making a Group 1 and Group 3 final in Tassie when winning eight of his first 10 starts.

He joined Jodie and Andy Lord's kennel but was switched to Sultana in May.

“He did a pin muscle the first start we gave him back in May,” said Michelle.

“He was absolutely air-born in that run and leading easily, but stopped like shot. I was just thankful it wasn't a bone injury.”

Sultana nursed him through the injury but trying to get him fit for his return to racing was a problem because of the heavy rain.

“At one stage we even drove him to Taree for a run up a straight track there,” said Michelle. “Everywhere we went was either closed or a bog.”

Michelle said “slow and steady” has been the process with Sacred Stance.

“The Punters HQ Syndicate have been very good and understanding,” she said.

“The pin has been good with the work we have been giving him and I was really happy with the way he went to the line at Maitland.

“We have not made any future plans for him just wanting him to get back on the track.

“He's a fast dog … very fast.

“His time at Maitland was good on a cold and foggy night that saw the last few races called off.”
