Scintillate Stars In Near Record Ipswich Romp

JEDDA Cutlack will not be tempted to test exciting prospect Scintillate against tougher opposition despite a sensational win at Ipswich on Saturday.

YOUTHFUL Queensland trainer Jedda Cutlack will not be tempted to test exciting young staying prospect Scintillate against tougher opposition despite a sensational win at Ipswich on Saturday night.

Scintillate (Konomi-Sherbini) ran 36.87, the second fastest 630m run at Ipswich when leading throughout to win.

The time is second only to Champagne Sally's 36.68 track record.

Scintillate was having only her second start over 630m and had won the previous week, coming from behind in 37.65.

“I knew when she came up with the rails this week she could lead and run some time,” said Jedda.

“Yes, it was a surprise to run the second fastest ever, but the entire litter is strong and she has always shown great potential.”

But Jedda also believes Scintillate, and her littermates, are on a learning curve.

“There is not a lot of confidence in them yet but that will come with racing,” she said.

“That's why we would not be tempted to test her against tough opposition.”

Jedda is well aware the bitch has a promising staying future.

Her mother, Sherbini, was a top class stayer during her race career as well.

Sunburst is from the same direct damline as Scintillate and that bitch is the winner of 22 races for Jedda's kennel.

“To think she has gone quicker than Sunburst is some indication of what she promises to do in the future,” said Jedda.

“She will stay for sure and that is our ultimate plan.”
