Sennachie Pup Smashes Class Record On Debut

ARLENE Roy and her daughter Vanessa Heather agreed celebrations on Tuesday night would include hot dogs and a glass of chardonnay.

That sort of celebration could soon develop into a household fixture.

Arlene and Vanessa had a big day at Ipswich on Tuesday … a VERY big day.

They are first time greyhound owners and on Tuesday, their very first greyhounds, the Sennachie and Fabwik pair Professor Snitch and Professor Sirius landed a winning double.

And, Professor Snitch on debut scored by 12 and a half lengths in 24.67 a maiden class record.

Arlene could hardly contain herself after the winning double.

She and Vanessa have been a part of their dogs' lives from the moment she bought them from breeder Kirin Corby in South Australia and had them delivered to Queensland.

They were reared and are now trained by Kerry Hoggan and her husband Ian and every Friday during their rearing, Arlene and Vanessa would head from Redcliffe to Churchable to lead the pup, walk them, brush them and cuddle them.

“Arlene and Vanessa have both got a handler's license and have never missed a trial those two dogs have had, and in fact they have come in very handy on many a trial and race night,” said Ian.

The two dogs are Harry Potter inspired namings.

Professor Snitch was on target for a Vince Curry series campaign.

“What she trialled over 431 metres was sensational so we stepped her up to 520 for a couple of trials,” said Ian. “But she is very young and the extra distance worried her.

“That's when we dropped her back.

“She is an absolute rocket out of the boxes and probably could have cut one or even two tenths off that time if she had begun as quick as we know she can.

Arlene Roy was not speechless after the double and “Snitchy's” sensational performance but she described the wins as “unbelievable”.

“This has been a fantastic journey already,” said Arlene.

“I love both of those dogs totally.”

“Snitchy” will run in the maiden final next week but already she is hot property.

“I cannot thank everyone enough,” she said. “Kirin, Steve White with Sennachie, the Hoggans.”

Bloodlines students should have targeted first starter, Professor Snitch.

On Saturday night at Wentworth Park, South Australian youngster Victa Damian emerged as possibly the most talented young greyhound in the country winning the G1 National Derby coming from behind in 29.47 quicker than superstar She's A Pearl won the G1 Paws Of thunder.

Victa Damien is Fernando Bale-Victa Polly and he and Professor Snitch (and her brother Professor Sirius) are virtual brother and sister.

Victa Damian's second mother Victa Victoria is Surf Lorian and Teelah and the third dam is Corrumbene Lass.

Fabwik's dam is Wikena and she is Surf Lorian and Corrumbene Lass.

Sennachie, of course, is a son of Fernando Bale.

Professor Snitch's maiden class record eclipsed the previous mark set by Hammer Down of 24.70 back in September 2019.

The track record is 24.54 held by Regal Recall and set in March 2019.
