Shima Shine Siblings In Pursuit Of G1 Double

LEGEND Victorian dog man Dave Gleeson is preparing himself for what can only be called an “avalanche”.

Dave and his greyhound racing partner, Bob Cummings, don't have to look to the weather reports, just Sky Racing.

The “avalanche” is the onslaught of the progeny of their superstar race dog and emerging stud success Shima Shine.

What has Dave and Bob most excited is that big name trainers are talking up the youngsters by Shima Shine, excited by what the future holds.

Queensland's hall of famer, Tony Zammit, believes Valpolicella, unbeaten in two scorching runs over 600m at Albion Park, is a potential star.

Dennis Barnes has a youngster called Nangar Larry he rates among “potentially” the best he has had. Larry's littermates, Royal Nangar and Outlaw McGraw, are already fast Wentworth Park winners.

Nangar Larry is already a finalist in Saturday night's G1 Vic Peters and his litter sister, Miss McGraw, was absolutely sensational in winning her way through to the final of the G1 Peter Mosman Opal with a 29.63 heat win on Saturday night.

Dennis is so impressed he has repeated the mating.

Down in Tassie, Black Tsunami has already been a finalist in the Hobart Maiden 1000.

But over in New Zealand, Shima Shine's litter from US import Blame The Fame is headed by Big Time Blazer already the winner of 10 races and $34,000.

The Dailly family, who trained Shima Shine and stand him at stud, have also produced a litter out of US bitch Kanji that includes multiple Meadows winner Kanji Venice.

But Dave Gleeson says this is just the start.

Shima Shine has close to 100 litters of pups, more than  enough to prove him a stud powerhouse.

The “mail” on a litter from G1 winner and top notch producer, Elevated, is that it will make all sit up and take notice.

There are numerous other such reports.

“What about Exploded who at 20 months has just won over 700 metres at The Meadows,” said Dave.

“The first pups by Shima Shine are already almost up to 200 wins and they are only babies.”

Dave had to go out and buy pups by his dog.

“All our bitches, of course, are related to Shima Shine. I've got four, two from two different litters, with Dailleys now and they are showing promise already.

“And, we've just sent a number of straws to Dunphys in Ireland. He'll get a great go there as well.

“I'm certainly very happy with what I'm seeing from his first pups.”

Dave Gleeson is like an expectant father … waiting for it all to happen.
