Silver Stunner Chasing Ipswich Gold

YOUTHFUL Queensland trainer Travis Elson believes raging hot favourite Fernando Blaster is “beatable” in the rich final of the Group 3 Ipswich Gold Cup (520m) on Thursday night.

Elson has high class bitch Silver Stunner (Barcia Bale-Cyndie's Special) drawn favourably off the rails in the Cup final.
But, Travis had one stipulation to go with his confidence.

“My bitch needs to be within three lengths of Fernando Blaster down the back straight,” he said. “Any further and I doubt anyone can pick him up.”

Fernando Blaster earned hot favouritism for the final when he equalled the track record in his heat last week running a scorching 29.97. He and Champagne Sally are the only dogs to break 30 seconds at Ipswich.

Elson is ecstatic with his bitch's form and the draw.

“No, I can't complain about the box draw, and her form going into this race is great,” he said. “Her win in the heat was pretty special. She's made just about every feature final we have put her in.”

These include her third in the Gold Coast Cup and State Of Origin as well as her finals spots in the Brisbane Cup and National Sprint.

Elson said the bitch had been getting wide in her recent races at Albion Park but a switch back to Ipswich has seen her impressive to say the least.

“She had not been back to Ipswich since she was a pup,” he said.

“The heat win was particularly impressive because she stumbled out of the boxes.”
