Simon All Set For Surprise Dapto Megastar Assault

SIMON Told Helen will bypass this weekend’s heats of the Ballarat Cup and instead venture to Dapto on Thursday night for the Group 1 Dapto Megastar.

SIMON Told Helen will bypass this weekend's heats of the Group 2 Ballarat Cup and instead venture to Dapto on Thursday night for a tilt at the Group 1 Dapto Megastar.

And the appearance of the four-time group 1 winner on the south coast sets up the potential for a mouth-watering final clash with young NSW star Flying Ricciardo.

"We gave where to go some thought but in the end decided Dapto was our best option," said Simon Told Helen's trainer David Burnett.

"I'm still convinced he goes better at The Meadows than he does at Sandown and with Dapto being a tighter track I think it will suit him.

"He goes good first up at tracks so this week will be about finding the front, qualifying and getting through to the final.

“I've never raced at Dapto before so I'm looking forward to the night.”

Simon Told Helen heads to Dapto on Thursday night fresh off his superb second to Hard Style Rico in Friday night's Group 1 TAB Melbourne Cup at Sandown in track record time.

"I thought the run was great considering he missed it away," Burnett offered.

"We were toying with either Ballarat or Dapto but in the end decided Dapto was a great chance of winning another group 1 with him.

"If things don't go to plan on Thursday the option is to go to Hobart the following week for the Hobart Thousand heats."

The potential clash between Simon Told Helen and Flying Ricciardo in the $75,000-to-the-winner Dapto Megastar is a promoter's dream.

Flying Ricciardo, the budding superstar of the Australian sprinting ranks, rounded out his Megastar preparations with a blistering 29.47 trial at the venue last Thursday for Kristy Sultana.
